Saltburn-by-the-Sea was last year named by the Sunday Times as one of the best towns to live in the UK. We're not arguing with that! It's a really friendly town with a great community spirit. (www.saltburnbysea.com) Throughout the summer there are lots of markets, concerts on the bandstand, events for the children on the beach and at the woodland centre and highly regarded food and folk festivals.
Everything you need is within 5 minutes walking distance from our house - restaurants, cafes & bars; a miniature railway & Italian Gardens; woods, cliffs & beach; the pier and funicular cliff lift; surfing & stand up paddle boarding; a comedy club, yoga classes, a theatre, farmers market, railway station and supermarket..... In the winter when the crowds have gone we have eight miles of great beach to ourselves. It's a fantastic place for children but there are great amenities for the grown ups too!
We are 15 minutes drive to the spectacular North Yorkshire Moors; 30 minutes from historic Whitby and just an hour to York.
