We are a recently retired couple who love travel, outdoor activities, biking, swimming, and great food. We love our "near to downtown" Portland, OR neighborhood yet treasure our private secluded back yard for an evening glass of wine.
We are specifically interested in reciprocal exchanges between April and October of 2020. Because our kids are grown, we are not constrained by the school calendar.

Meie kodu
Koduvahetuseks pakutava kodu kirjeldus
We are located in beautiful Portland, Oregon on a heavily wooded and landscaped 1/2 acre lot (large for the Portland Metro Area). Our home has a king bed in the master with its own bathroom, two queen bedrooms and an office. We have a large living room, dining room with a table that seats 8 - 10, large kitchen with family room, sun-room and laundry room. An in-ground swimming pool (heated in summer months) is right out the back door and is maintained by a pool service. We have gardeners come each week to maintain the grass and shrubbery in the yard. The back yard is fully fenced in privacy fencing. Outdoor covered eating area for alfresco dining and a nice patio set for lounging is also in the backyard. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee while hearing the birds sing or an evening dinner in the backyard. We do have a dog but she will be kenneled during any exchange and all of her beds, toys, etc. will be removed and stored during the exchange.

We live in Vista Hills, a great neighborhood made up of mostly 1/2 acre lots and 1 story mid-century modern homes. Great walking and biking neighborhood. Our location is very convenient to downtown Portland and the surrounding suburbs. Less than 1 mile to the light rail station and eleven minutes to downtown Portland on the light rail. Our neighborhood has parks with tennis courts and play structures within a 5 minute walk. Grocery stores, Department stores, banks, local restaurants are about a 5 minute drive.
Take bikes to downtown Portland and ride the bridges and east bank Esplanade of the lovely Willamette River. Enjoy a dinner cruise on the Portland Spirit or a wild boat ride on the Portland Thunderjet. Rent kayaks and paddle the Willamette or take a stroll on the many walking paths through the city. Downtown Portland is filled with shops, foodcarts and restaurants as well as the Portland Art Museum and concert venues. Rent a scooter to explore the Pearl District and NW 23rd Ave. Then consider a hike in Portland's Forest Park after going to the zoo and Portland Rose Garden. Take in a Portland Timbers Game (MLS soccer) at Providence Park. All this is a 15 minute drive from our house.
If you are a foodie Portland is known for its fantastic restaurants. Great restaurant choices are 5 to 20 minutes away, depending on your fancy. Oregon wine country, world famous for Pinot Noir is 30min to 1 hour away. Beautiful countryside and delicious wines await. A list of our favorites will be waiting for you.
Because of our location you can get to Mt. Hood (hiking, camping, fishing, etc.), Columbia River Gorge (spectacular views, biking, waterfalls, windsurfing, breweries, orchards), the Oregon Coast (beaches, clamming, shopping, fishing) in an hour or so. Seattle with its many attractions is 3 hours away. Spend some time at the Space Needle, Glass Museum or watching the Mariners baseball team. Hood Canal or The Olympic National Forest is close by.

- Oregon Coast - 1 hour by car - great beachcombing, kite flying, clamming, etc.
