Black Forest - hikes in summer / ski runs, skiing and snowboarding in winter
- About 15 km to the southeast are the hiking areas close to the city and in winter the ski slopes at Schauinsland (1200m, for beginners), which can best be reached via the somewhat hidden part of the village "Günterstal".
- Via the Bundesstraße 31 (city tunnel to the east) you get to the 1400m high Feldberg (25km).

Museums in the border triangle Germany-France-Switzerland:
- Basel (Switzerland): The Kunsthalle, the Tinguely Museum, the Fondation Beyeler and others are to be mentioned. Basel is easily accessible by train via the Basel-Badischer Bahnhof station. Parking is very expensive in the Basel car parks; but there is a very cheap all-day tourist parking ticket, which can be ordered on the Internet. However, this means that you can only walk in parking zones at the edge of the city centre and have to walk a bit.
- Vitra Design Museum is located on the German side in the city "Weil am Rhein" just north of Basel and is definitely worth a visit if you are interested.
- In Colmar, France, lies the "Musée d'Unterlinden", medieval painting on the Upper Rhine.
