We are retired teacher/farmer/rancher. our second home on Saltspring Island. BC is a place that Denise has been going to since she was a child.We love to travel and in retirement volunteer in a variety of different organization, welcoming ESL for newcomers, organizing film festivals, supporting our local library.

Located on the sunny side of the largest of the Canadian Gulf Islands, our 2 bedroom lindal cedar cottage has a spectacular view across the water to Vancouver Island, a short ferry ride away. our island home is famous for its arts community, great summer entertainment and opportunities for fishing and boating. the wraparound deck offers opportunity to relax and enjoy the view and the wildlife .

Saltspring Island is famous for its arts and cultural community along with the very beautiful setting on the BC coast between Vancouver and Victoria. There are great hikes on the island with maps to guide you, and opportunities to sail and fish with charter companies in Ganges Harbour. At our cottage you can venture out into the bay with our kayaks or canoe. The Art Spring Theatre in Ganges, the small town nearby the cottage offers a variety of great performances over the summer. Other locations also have great music and the many art galleries and artist studios are frequently open for your browsing pleasure. On this small island there are over 12 restaurants for a variety of west coast cuisine. Take a day to explore Vancouver Island as the frequent ferry service will give you a full day to explore the old world charms of Victoria or the beautiful beaches of Tofino on the west coast or Parksville and Qualicum just north of Naniamo on the sheltered side of Vancouver island.

Checkout the what is happening in the village of Ganges, music, drama, lectures and discussions at different venues…including the main venue, Art Spring Theatre. Paddle along the shore, observing the shoreline, possibly spotting a seal , a family of otters or an orca. Hike to one of the several mountain tops, and gain a fabulous view of the sounding area. Relax on the deck with a great find at the second hand book store in Ganges.

Please leave the house as clean as it was when you arrived, absolutely no smoking and no pets, thanks. Noise carries over the water so please be mindful of this if you have music playing in the evening. Please do not walk on the neighbours property, I will clearly indicate how the neighbourhood of 11 homes is organized. if something is broken just leave a small donation to cover the cost. please do not try to replace or repair. Thanks for giving the flowers a drink on the patio.
