Sue & Denis are a retired Medical Laboratory Supervisor and Chartered Engineer / Vice President of a Swiss multinational engineering company.
We have lived and worked on 4 continents over the last 35 years, renting our UK homes out while we travel. Thus we are well used to taking care of other peoples homes and leaving them as good as when we arrive.
We retired 11 years ago and spent 3 years travelling the world. European summers were spent on our Dutch Steel Yacht in Holland & France and the winters in Australasia and the US.
We now live in Brampton. Our daughter and husband live in London with our 2 young grandsons. Our son and wife live near Newmarket with 2 horses.
We have also remodelled, upgraded and redecorated our home. This has emphasised low maintenance, comfortable, easy living with good entertainment & communication facilities that we and our HomeLink guests can enjoy.

Read More...This was our first simultaneous exchange and Denis and Sue could not have made the experience more pleasurable. From our first contact they were responsive and detailed in answering all our questions, no matter how obscure. We made our exchange agreement nearly a year in advance and our communication with Denis and Sue was frequent, which made us feel as if we knew them before we actually met. We were fortunate enough to plan our travel so that we met Denis and Sue upon their arrival and introduced them to our neighbors and friends. We highly recommend such a meet and greet as it makes the experience much more personal and increases the comfort level of having guests in our home. Denis and Sue's home is lovely. It is located in the charming village of Brampton and easy walking distance to a good pub, butcher, co-op market and public walking paths. It is a very short drive to Huntingdon, which has more shopping options and a train station that has direct hourly trains to London and connections to all points in the U.K. There were four of us in our party (two couples) and we found their home to be very comfortable and modern with all the amenities. Sue's kitchen contains everything one could possibly need. The bathrooms are updated and fresh. The lounge and conservatory are wonderful spots to relax and unwind. We especially enjoyed the conservatory for having our morning coffee. The backyard garden is also a delight. We also enjoyed including our automobiles as part of the exchange. This worked out perfectly as it eliminated the need to rent a car. Theirs is a Mercedes station wagon which was in perfect operating condition and more than met our needs. We could not have asked for a better firstmexchange experience. Thank you Denis and Sue!

Descripción de nuestro barrio y la zona en que se encuentra
Our bungalow is set in a quiet cul-de-sac in the village of Brampton which is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. The famous 17th century diarist Samuel Pepys lived in the village in the 1600’s. Vists can be aranged to see the house via https://pepys-club.org.uk/pepys-house-trust/ or thesecretary@pepys-club.org.uk. Close by there is access to significant British history, such as Cromell who was born locally and the River Great Ouse.
Within the village there are country walks, shops, doctors, pubs, pharmacy, fishing lake, tea rooms, traditional butchers, golf course, hairdresser / beauty salon, horse race course and the River Great Ouse with boat hire & fishing. .
Close by is Hinchingbrooke House & park dating from C13th, Brampton Woods / Nature reserve, Grafham Water (Sailing, 10 mile walking / cycling trail, picnicking). Locally there is the Cromwell Museum and further afield in Cambridge, London, Sandringham, Stratford upon Avon much else to do. Cambridge has significant history and facilities including museums, gardens, punting, restaurants, walks, universities, theatres etc.

Dónde ir y qué hacer mientras se esté en nuestra casa
Huntingdon (3 miles) has a Cromwell museum, historic churches, walks, entertainment, gyms, River Great Ouse (boat hire, fishing) restaurants and pubs. Restaurants include the Old Bridge Hotel (C18th) which is the only restaurant in the UK to have twice won the AA Wine Award for the best wine list. Trains go to London and Scotland.
Cambridge (20 miles) has significant history as well as cutting edge technology centres. Its universities were founded over 800 years ago and there are tours to the colleges, gardens, churches, libraries and many historical sights. Entertainment abounds with theatres, music venues, walks, guided tours / buses and punting. There are many eateries - for a real treat we visit “Midsummer House” Michelin 2* and 2014 Trip Advisor “Travellers Choice Award Restaurant” #1 in the UK and # 2 World Wide.
London is about 1.5 hours by rail or car. We normally drive to the underground and get the tube into the centre.
There are great rail and road links to the UK.

We have had rented out our home previously for years whilst traveling & working globally, and so are used to preparing for your arrival. We typically do this by clearing out wardrobes, having a comprehensive guide to the home & locality and leaving you a starter pack of food, drink and toiletries so you can feel at home quickly.
We just ask that it is looked after as you would your own, as we will do the same with yours.
Our Automatic Mercedes S350L is available for the swap.
