Descripción de la casa que ofrecemos en intercambio
Well House is a beautiful, beamed, 18th Century former farmhouse just south of Clun in the South Shropshire Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). When we moved here 15 years ago, we operated for a few years as a B&B and our guests invariably remarked on the beauty and peacefulness of the area. The house has a log burner as well as full central heating and is large enough to accommodate six people, but it would also be a great hideaway for a couple. The gardens are a delight.
The house is full of character, and next door to a working farm on the edge of a tiny hamlet. We are surrounded by hills. To the north is Brineddin Wood, a steep-sided hill covered in oak trees and full of bluebells in the spring, while immediately behind us is Caer Caradoc, an Iron-age hill fort that is rumoured to have been the last outpost of the Briton chief, Caractacus, before he was defeated by the Romans.
We are seeking occasional short exchanges in UK and Ireland, central (ish) London, in France close to cycle routes, and possibly Australia in 2024 as we have family in Melbourne.
Allergy sufferers please note - we have a cat. He can stay if you like cats or we can put him in kennels. Depending on the time of year, and the weather, we might ask you to water the vegetable garden.

Descripción de nuestro barrio y la zona en que se encuentra
Chapel Lawn is a very small village close to where the three counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire and Powys meet. We are about 20k west of the market town of Ludlow, supposedly the loveliest of English towns. This is superb hiking country, criss-crossed with footpaths, and we are about 5k from the Welsh border and the famous Offa's Dyke long-distance path. There is always a wealth of entertainment and activities up and down the English/Welsh border.
If you stayed here, you would probably divide your time between sitting in the local pubs, walking the hills, and visiting the many little border towns in the area. In the fisteen years we have lived here, autumn has always been especially lovely.
The nearest town for food shopping is Knighton, six miles away, as is the smaller town of Clun, reputedly 'the quietest place under the sun'. We are about one hour's drive from both Hereford to the south and Shrewsbury to the north - both of which are county towns worth visiting. Birmingham is about an hour and a half drive away. There is a railway station three miles away at Bucknell which connects Swansea and Manchester via Shrewsbury.
