The apartment is in the eastern part of Amsterdam; a lively neighbourhood with a lot of diversity in people, shops and restaurants. On walking distance you will find a shoppingcenter with a big commercial supermarket, two biological supermarkets and all kind of shops from the mainstream Dutch brands. When you walk a little further along the main street, there are all sorts of fancy shops, vegan restaurants, nice bookstores and fancy hairdressers. If you go in the other direction from the apartment, you will get to the Dappermarkt, a lovely market for fresh fish, chicken, vegetables and clothing. In the area of the market you will find a great verity of shops to get your Turkish, Indian, Surinam, Middle Eastern or other groceries. If you visit all the restaurants in this neighbourhood you could eat every night from another cuisine for weeks if you like.
The Oosterpark is right across the street and the Tropenmuseum is on walkingdistance. There are two good art-house cinema's in this neighbourhood and Artis, the zoo, is just on the other end of the parc.
No wonder this area has become a true hotspot over the last few years.
