This skillfully redesigned home has all the amenities you would expect plus a stunning view of Southampton water. Its varied traffic of windsurfers, yachts, freighters, cruise liners and more besides will divert you as you relax overlooking the water. Anne & Mick have a thoughtful approach to design and comfort - what a delightfully hospitable swap! For “pitstops” there are plenty of cafés locally as well as the superb Purbani Indian restaurant five minutes walk away, complete with immaculate tablecloths and attentive waiters - their Wednesday banquet offer is particularly good value. We swam locally (several pools nearby), watched the activities of customers for the water taxis and ferry at Hamble as well as enjoyed sundowners at the Ketch Rigger bar at the marina. A 15 minute walk, or five minute drive, takes you to the extraordinary site of the Victorian Royal Military Hospital, a special project of Queen Victoria, used for a century to treat and rehabilitate those injured in war. Further afield one’s maritime history can be expanded at the Museum in Southampton or the historic dockyard complex at Portsmouth with several boats that can be explored as well as an imaginative take on Tudor times with the Mary Rose experience.

We enjoyed a relaxing week in Anne and Mick’s immaculate brand new home with its unusual lay out. Well done on building it in a year!! It has fantastic views from the lounge, bedroom and the bottom of the garden,of Southampton Water and all the ships on their way to and from the docks, including cruise ships and huge container ships. There is the pretty waterside village of Hamble with various restaurants next to the river. We enjoyed eating good hearty meals at the Cottage and Roll Call pubs.We also enjoyed a day trip to the Isle of Wight via the Red Jet passenger ferry from Southampton.
