Ballard is a vibrant, hip & very popular neighborhood, w/an attractive town center boasting many shops, restaurants & interesting sites. It is a friendly & very walkable part of Seattle w/good access to bike paths & public transportation. Many things to keep children entertained, both in Ballard & throughout the city.

Just down the hill from our house is Golden Gardens Park which has a wonderful beach, open fields &play areas for children. Two blks east of our house is the Nordic Heritage Museum which highlights the Scandinavian heritage of our neighborhood with a small park, swing sets & play area. Also by short walk are the Ballard Locks, with beautiful arboretum, a ship canal & salmon ladder where in summer months you can view salmon by the hundreds as they make their way to fresh water and the spawning grounds nearby. Ballard hosts a large farmers mkt every Sunday in its historic town center. Many other wonderful parks & attractions are very close by.
