Both my wife and I are in our later 70s and retired, she a former high school mathematics teacher and I a small business owner. We remain active, each volunteering in several capacities which help people directly or for the benefit of our community. We've traveled fairly extensively and will continue to do so as long as possible but both speak only English.

Descripción de nuestro barrio y la zona en que se encuentra
LOCATED on the San Francisco Peninsula, one of the most desirable locations in the Bay Area, San Carlos, is equidistant (35 minutes, 28mi/45km) from San Francisco or San Jose city center. At the edge of Silicon Valley, it is but a stones throw (with a bionic arm) from Stanford University in Palo Alto. Traffic is never a problem as you can choose between two freeways, neither of which has bridges or tolls. San Francisco airport is 15mi/24km but we are well out of the flight pattern so we are never bothered by aircraft noise.
Our home is in a family-oriented neighborhood, at the head of Big Canyon Park (elevation 740 feet/220 meters) with views of the wooded parkland, parts of several cites and San Francisco Bay. Beyond our back fence is Big Canyon Park with a loop hiking trail and within 800 feet/240 meters is Crestview Park with children's play equipment, a basketball court, a natural grass soccer (futbol) field. an all weather rubberized soft step jogging track and picnic tables

Dónde ir y qué hacer mientras se esté en nuestra casa
In addition to Big Canyon Park and Crestview parks, within a mile (1600m) is Highlands Park with lighted tennis courts, lighted soccer field, lighted baseball diamond and a running track. Vista Park, at the head of another nearby canyon, leads to other hiking trails. Within two miles (3km) are Edgewood County Park and Natural Preserve, Pulgas Ridge Open Space Reserve and San Francisco Fish & Game Refuge all of which offer excellent hiking opportunities. In Redwood Shores and Foster City (3 mi/5 km) are miles of level bike paths along canals, lagoons and lakes. Further afield are mountain bike trails and a bike path encircles San Francisco Bay. Two mountain bikes are available. Pacific Ocean beaches and surfing (including Mavriks) are only 10mi/16k west.
Lo qué nos gusta y lo qué no... Estas son nuestras preferencias y normas domésticas.
My wife and I like hosting exchanges which give us the opportunity to meet, get to know you and show you parts of the Bay Area you otherwise would never likely see. We are both retired (71 and 73 respectively), she formerly a high school math teacher and I a small business owner. Neither of us smoke and we do not allow smoking or pets in either our home or car.
