We are both retired and enjoy travel and spending time in our caravan. We both play golf and are members of Hesketh Golf Club. Clubs would be available for any exchanging golfers. We have completed numerous successful exchanges in the past to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa the USA and Europe.

We had a very relaxing stay in Dave and Val's apartment. A highlight was being able to lie in bed and watch the reflection of the birds in the garden. A very good tip for the Food and Drink Festival which was a great introduction to Southport. We were hoping to try the beach at Formby but discovered that parking was £7.50 (cash! Who has that these days??) but discovered another great bar instead - Emily's (?). Went into Manchester and enjoyed The Lowry on one of the days. Many thanks for the exchange.

Situated on the outskirts of Southport this modernised and updated apartment in a former Edwardian mansion has everything you could wish for. Shops, interesting days out and exploring the surrounding environs including the awesome daily flight of 1000s of Pink Footed geese made this a most memorable house exchange. David and Val were very welcoming with their thoughtfulness’s and careful information details. Most enjoyable.

A wonderful modern quiet apartment with a kitchen 'to die for' …and easy to use. We felt totally at home and settled in quickly ..enjoying the morning sunshine and the birds at the feeders. We ate dinner on the tiny secluded patio as weather permitted. Dave and Val were very kind and generous with their time. Thank you both again! Southport (founded in the late 18th C) is a delightful seaside town with an historic pier and tremendous choice of restaurants and coffee shops. Well known for its golfing tradition …(I think there are over 10 courses in the area) …so a Mecca for golfers! And birders …as area equally well known for its nearby water bird sanctuary (RSPB) which has hides for easy viewing. Easy access to Liverpool by bus and train, with bus stops near the apartment. Thanks Dave and Val for a great visit.

We had a most enjoyable exchange with Dave and Val in their very spacious, modern and comfortable apartment. The little outdoor sunny sitting area was a bonus. It is situated in a very nice and safe area within easy walking distance of Southport centre, walks by the shore and what looked like good cycle routes. The apartment was very clean and well equipped and Dave and Val made us feel very welcome. Dave even arranged for my husband to chum up with his friends for a couple of rounds of golf. Liverpool, Birkdale, Formby, Ainsdale and Lytham St Annes are all within easy travelling distance. Thank you Dave and Val for a great time.

Descripción de la casa que ofrecemos en intercambio

Our home is one of 15 apartments. It is has three bedrooms and has a floor area of over 1600sq ft. The original mock Tudor house was built in 1903 and converted to a high standard in 2014. There are communal gardens and a large terrace area which enjoys afternoon and evening sunshine. Our apartment is at the rear facing on to Hesketh Golf course. As it is ground floor, there is direct access to a small private area which enjoys morning and early afternoon sunshine. The building has lift access to all floors.

The television has full Sky sports access along with Netflix plus Amazon Prime.

Our home is in a very quiet area but within easy reach of Southport town which is a 20 minute stroll away. (www.visitsouthport.com) There is a bus stop just 50 yards away. Southport is a traditional seaside town with a pier. It is in the heart of the so called ‘Golf Coast’ with numerous excellent courses with a few miles including Royal Birkdale, which has hosted The Open Championship
several times, most recently in 2017.
The town has a direct rail link to Liverpool with trains every 15 minutes and an hourly service to Manchester connecting to Manchester airport. The Lake District is just an hours drive away.

From our home, it is a 10 minute walk to the Coastal Road which has a wide pavement and cycle path into town. A short distance in the opposite direction is an RSPB observation hut giving fabulous views across Marshside, an internationally renowned wetlands area. Early and late in the year, the sound of thousands of pink footed geese can be heard overhead as they travel daily to and from inland feeding areas. Also within a few miles is Martin Mere, another great place to see bird life.
Within a few minutes walk is Hesketh Park with lake and crazy golf. Slightly further you will find Botanic gardens with fernery and an aviary along with a pleasant cafe bar.
The vibrant city of Liverpool is less than an hour away served by a direct rail link. Trains run every 15 minutes. Here you will find museums galore and excellent shopping facilities.

We are returning Homelink members, having completed over 30 exchanges between 2002 and 2013. As we now live in an apartment, full consideration for neighbours needs to be given. You will also appreciate that occasionally house noises are unavoidable although there are no children resident and it is generally very quiet.
As we prefer the environment of exchanges to members true homes, in general we will not consider second or holiday homes.
We always treat exchange home with great respect and remove outside shoes at the door. We would appreciate the same consideration.
