We are a fun loving couple with two grown up boys who are very interested in exploring other regions of the world. Stuart is an Environmental Scientist and Brynda currently works part-time as a Learning Mentor for 16-18yr olds in a college, as well as assisting with childcare for our three beautiful granddaughters when needed. We returned to the UK in 2019 having lived and worked in Belgium which we thoroughly enjoyed and wish to continue meeting new International friends.

It was a treat to stay in a cottage that was so old and intriguing - and to be able to walk in part of the "Forest of Arden" was a bit of living history. Sitting in the quiet garden, enjoying the scents and colours was so relaxing. Kenilworth has lots of green trails, it's castle and other places to explore. It was a perfect long weekend and after so much walking I feel mega fit

What a splendid exchange! From start to finish we had a superb time visiting Brynda and Stuart’s house. We loved it, so pretty like a chocolate box cottage, but also everything we could need for a family of 4 thanks to all their careful preparation. Needless to stay we completely felt st home and relaxed, the children were happy and very well catered for and the surrounding area was superb to explore. Not only was it great exchanging houses but we have made good friends, and will hopefully exchange again some time. Thankyou.

Descripción de la casa que ofrecemos en intercambio

Lovely family home located a few minutes walk from the beautiful Abbey Fields in the centre of historic Kenilworth. The cottage was originally two small timber framed cottages built in 1617 and was owned by the Earl of Clarendon. They were reconfigured in the 1970's to become one more spacious home and the cottage was given Grade II Listed Building Status in order to retain the wealth of characterful features throughout! On the 1st floor, there are 3 bedrooms with a double bed and a 4th smaller room, currently used as a study but also houses a double bed settee. There is a shower room/toilet next to the Master bedroom and a separate Jack&Jill bathroom on the first floor also. The spacious ground floor has a large lounge with inglenook fireplace (wood burning stove), large snug, study/office, beautiful garden room with outside decking area and a characterful kitchen. We have a large mature garden at the rear which is perfect for entertaining and there is an on street designated parking space at the front of the cottage. We also have lovely neighbours!

Kenilworth is home to England's largest ruined castle (900 years history), the remains of an Augustinian Priory (founded 1119 and raised to an Abbey in 1448) set in 60 acres of parkland and many buildings of architectural interest. Our cottage is situated mid way between the old town of Kenilworth, with a range of historic buildings, pubs and the famous castle and the more modern shopping street offering both independent and artisan shops alongside superb restaurants, pubs and trendy wine bars. The Abbey Fields which is a 2 mins walk from the cottage forms the heart of Kenilworth and offers a gorgeous lake, two children's play areas, tennis courts, a trim trail, a cafe and heritage trails. Kenilworth has a train station (10 mins walk from cottage) offering links to Leamington Spa and Coventry, where easy connections can be made for day trips to Birmingham and London. Stratford Upon Avon, the home of Shakespeare, is a 20 mins drive from our home through beautiful countryside where there are lots of cultural and fun activities to enjoy all year round. Kenilworth has easy motorway links to all the major cities and day trips to the beautiful Cotswolds, Oxford and Bath.

A short stroll to the Castle ruins ( Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden | English Heritage
https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/kenilworth-castle/) through the Abbey Fields and then stopping at one of the many historic pubs for a meal and drink when you want to stay close to home. The beautiful market town of Warwick is a short drive away (10km) and offers a magnificent castle, interesting shops and bars. Stratford Upon Avon, the home of William Shakespeare is a 20mins car drive away and has magnificent Tudor buildings and visitors can enjoy exciting boat rides on the River Avon as well as enjoying wonderful theatre at The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).
