We can highly recommend for fine food and wine, especially considering the short distance from 'The Retreat'. It is on Church Hill just across from us (turn left out of the front gate) but do book in advance.

Shopping
Within Washingborough there is a small shopping precinct. This is located on Park Lane. On foot it is a ten minute walk - for directions see below. It contains a small co-operative supermarket, a post office, pharmacy, newsagents, hairdressers, fish and chip shop and a Chinese takeaway. Turn left out of the front gates and then right onto Manor Road, then turn right again onto Pitts Road. After a short walk along Pitts Road turn left onto Park Lane - the precinct is on the right hand side.
A little further afield one will find all the major supermarkets including M&S, Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Asda, etc who all deliver.

Golf
The National Golf Centre Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, LN10 6PU is a twenty minute drive away.
There are two courses here, the Hotchkin and the Bracken. The Hotchkin course is widely regarded by many as the best inland course in the British Isles and is presently ranked by www.top100golfcourses.co.uk as the 78th best course in the world. Other Attractions
We appreciate that what you would like to see and do whilst at 'The Retreat' will vary greatly depending on your group dynamics! But there are lots of events going on throughout the year in Lincoln from open air theatre and concerts during the summer months at Lincoln Castle to the fantastic Christmas market in early December. We have also recently hosted the British Cycling Championships and seen the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta of which Lincoln has a copy. This is housed at Lincoln Castle in a new visitor centre which is well worth a visit. Book tickets in advance at; www.lincolncastle.com

National Trust Properties worthy of note and nearby include; Sir Isaac Newton's house near Grantham, Belton house which is well worth a visit, 'Mr Straws House' in Worksop is excellent (you do need to buy tickets in advance) and Tattershall Castle. The Collection Museum 1 Danes Terrace, Lincoln, LN2 1LP. This museum is well worth a visit. The collection includes a wealth of artefacts from the stone, bronze and iron ages, Roman, Saxon, Viking and mediaeval eras. It also has regular exhibitions which change monthly. Historic Sites nearby include Lincoln's Medieval Bishops Palace which is an English Heritage property. 2. Please consider our neighbours. Do not block the driveway with your vehicles and please do consider the noise levels, especially after 11 PM.
3. Please leave the Oven as you found it. Excessive cleaning costs may be passed on to you.
4. Over Occupation; we are only insured for occupation by a maximum of 8 people. Please do not exceed this number.
