We are a professional couple, 50 and 55 years, no children and we love nature, the outdoors, hiking and birdwatching. Traveling to the US and Canadian west coasts, the UK and Europe has given us some amazing experiences and now we are keen to try holidaying by home exchange. Our NZ exchanges have all been wonderful!

Descripción de la casa que ofrecemos en intercambio
Our 8 year old modern home in a quiet northeast suburb of Christchurch is open plan and super sunny, with a large deck off the dining room and kitchen, leading to the private north facing garden. The lounge room has a remote controlled gas fire, 60” TV with DVD, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ streaming. We have high speed, unlimited, fibre internet with wi-fi throughout the house. There is also air conditioning for heating or cooling. We have a large board game collection you are welcome to use.
Two of the bedrooms are available for your stay with a super king bed and ensuite in the master bedroom, plus a queen bed in the second bedroom. The main bathroom has a full size bath and shower.
We have 2 bicycles with helmets for you to use. We would prefer a car swap also. We have a Mazda 2 Demio hatch and a Subaru Forester SUV, both automatic for your use.

Burwood is a quiet northeast suburb of Christchurch close to the beach, the pine forest for biking and walking tracks, the native wetland reserve for birdwatching and is only 15min drive from the Port Hills - Christchurch’s outdoor playground. It is a 5min walk to the bus which goes to the local Shopping Mall and continues to the city centre. We have 2 handy supermarkets, library, corner shop, bakery, cafes, pubs, takeaways and pharmacy within 20min walk or 5min drive. Just a 15min drive is the large Northlands shopping mall, with a cinema complex and loads of dining options.

Christchurch city centre has an amazing amount of new dining and entertainment venues. Our home is only a 15 minute drive or one easy bus ride to the city centre with all the shopping, dining and entertainment you could want within a short walk in the compact, pedestrian & bike friendly centre.

There are lots of day trip options (see links below):
• The historic French settlement of Akaroa 1.5hours on a beautiful harbour with kayaking, hiking, penguin and seal colony, boat cruises and swimming with wild dolphins.
• Hanmer Springs alpine village with thermal pools/spa, forest biking/hiking and jet boating is 1.5hours.
• TranzAlpine train journey across the South Island and back, over the Alps.
• Mt Hutt ski field and Methven village are just over 1hour, for non-skiers there is a sightseeing chairlift ride and a hot spa at the very top: https://www.mthutt.co.nz
