We are extremely experienced house exchangers (on another website that we've got fed up with!) and have at least 20 exchanges under our belt. Christophe, who is French, has just recently retired from his career as a lighting manager at the Paris Opera so can now concentrate on climbing up the world sailing rankings (he sails a Finn, Olympic-class dinghy). Christina is a Franco-Scottish journalist who works from her own, or anyone else's, home! This means that our dates are entirely flexible except when they are tied to a regatta. We have four adult children (three daughters who work and a son who is still at university) one or more of whom may sometimes accompany us on our travels. We cannot exchange with anybody who has a cat as Christophe is allergic to them.

Descripción de la casa que ofrecemos en intercambio
Our large, 65 sq.m sunny flat with views onto the lake and mountains (front) and mountains (back) has been in the family for over 60 years. We entirely renovated it in 2013 keeping the 1960s vintage flavour as far as possible and furnished it with care. There is no flat-packed furniture here! We opted to keep the original lay-out of the flat, so there is a large, independent kitchen; a bathroom with bathtub (lovely to soak in after a long day on the slopes); a separate toilet; a large bedroom with four bespoke adult bunkbeds (each with its own shelf, bedside lamp and curtains to make a private cosy space); a table and sofa (so that the children can have their own space and let the adults enjoy the living room!); a living room with a convertible futon sofa bed and a large rectangular dining table.

Descripción de nuestro barrio y la zona en que se encuentra
Tignes le Lac is the historical centre of Tignes and is the neighbourhood of the resort which is closest to the lake. Sitting at 2,100m Tignes boasts one of the longest ski seasons of any resort in the Alps. Depending on early snowfall, it can open in November and doesn't close until the first week of May. However, it is also very active in the summer. Tignes is home to Europe's highest altitude golf course (you may have to share the greens with wild marmottes!) and has become quite a mecca for mountain biking with a vast network of cycle runs that are graded, much like ski slopes. In the summer access to many of the sports is free. Our flat is in one of the earliest built multi-storey buildings in the heart of the village. Ski slopes, ski schools, swimming pool, indoor sports arena, shops, bars and restaurants are all within 200m of the front door. A car is completely unnecessary in Tignes: you can either walk or take the free and extremely frequent shuttle that takes you from one neighbourhood of Tignes to another. Street parking is not allowed during the ski season so if you come by car you'll have to pay for either an indoor or outdoor car park and it's expensive!

Our flat is not generally available over Christmas and the New Year, nor during the French school holidays that generally run from the second week of February to the first week of March. During these periods we rent it out. So, it is important that our exchange partners leave the house as clean and tidy as they found it because the next guests might be paying ones. We will not ask you to pay the laundry costs and expect this to be reciprocal. The flat is strictly no smoking and no pets.
