Jim is recently retired from insurance, and Lisa will retire soon as a CPA. We are active and enjoy the outdoors (running, biking, hiking, kayaking, etc.), going to concerts and traveling.
We have two grown sons. They likely wouldn't join us traveling, but we would like to make the offer to them just in case. Thus, likely only 2 of us, but possibly up to 5, one is in a serious relationship.
We are planning to go to Dublin next summer (2023) for several weeks, whether we can find an exchange or not. However, we are very open to other places in Europe or US/Canada as well or maybe somewhere we haven't thought of yet. Also, we have family in Tucson, NE Ohio, and SF, so always open to any of those locations. Until Lisa retires tax season is blocked out Jan1-Apr15 and all of Sep.

Descripción de la casa que ofrecemos en intercambio
Our home is a 3-bedroom ranch in Moonridge area of Big Bear. The neighborhood is mostly second homes and short-term rentals. Most of the time it is super quiet in the neighborhood. Our home is also a short-term rental, so feel free to enjoy anything on the property, our personal items won't be in the way. It is well stocked for all of your needs. There is good wifi and internet connected TVs in almost every room. There is a collection of several hundred DVDs for all types of viewers. The game room is absolutely amazing for kids and adults alike!! It is in the garage, so it can get cold, but a space heater is provided to take the edge off. It is about 1500 sq ft and built in 2001. The yard is pretty small, but there are three different decks to enjoy outside. The front porch is fairly large and covered, great option if it is raining. The back deck includes a hot tub, table and some seating. The side deck has picnic table and gas grill, also close by is a gas fire pit with a few bench seats.

Descripción de nuestro barrio y la zona en que se encuentra
Big Bear is a mountain community situated around a large lake. There are two ski resorts nearby. Our cabin is in an area that is hilly above the lake called Moonridge, although I don't have a view of the lake, as you walk around the neighborhood you will get some great views. It is very peaceful with lots of nature nearby, including bears, but I haven't seen one personally yet. It is a tourist destination, so the activity in the area can change significantly from season to season and even week to week, but my neighborhood is generally very quiet and peaceful. The roads nearby are narrow and winding. You will definitely need a car, but all activities are a pretty quick drive.

Dónde ir y qué hacer mientras se esté en nuestra casa
Big Bear is an outdoor adventure mountain community. The most popular activities are skiing, hiking, mountain biking, boating, fishing and off-roading (4WD). There is also golfing, but I have never played the course. There is a small village with shops and restaurants. Our cabin is a short drive to all of these activities; however, we are in a hilly area of Big Bear called Moonridge. While it is a very beautiful setting, it is up a steep hill from the lake area and village, so most people will want a car. Unlike coastal California the mountains have four distinct seasons, but there are outdoor activities for each of the seasons.
There are local rental companies that will set you up with whatever you need to enjoy all of what Big Bear has to offer.
Actividades culturales y de ocio
Lo qué nos gusta y lo qué no... Estas son nuestras preferencias y normas domésticas.
We don't own pets, but some short-term rental guests bring their dogs (no cats), so we are open to that. It will be professionally cleaned after you leave, so you don't need to do too much when departing. However, you must remove all garbage and clean the dishes (dishwasher included). Depending on how long you stay, there is trash pick-up once a week. Big Bear has noise rules on rentals and although you won't technically be a renter, anyone in my cabin has to follow the rules since it is permitted for rentals. Mostly if you just respect the place, we will be happy. Since this is a rental as well, we aren't too picky, so relax and make the place yours for your stay.
