We are an active retired couple who enjoy bird-watching, gardening and walking. Mike is a great cook and Suzanne is an artist who enjoys painting in watercolour and acrylics in her home studio overlooking the bay. We have had wonderful exchanges with California, England, New York, France, New Zealand and Australia. We have a spacious Honda Odyssey van, perfect for touring around the province.

Read More...Suzanne & Mike's home 'Puffin Burrow' was a delight - perched high up over St Margaret's Bay's west of Halifax. The home had all and every conceivable convenience so that we wanted for absolutely nothing - particularly cooking spices! Our hosts' introductions enabled us to feel at home with neighbours and the local community and enabled us to explore the vast and beautiful inlets of St Margaret's Bay then further afield to Mahone Bay & Grand Pre as well as many days in to the sights of Halifax/Dartmouth. Indeed, three weeks was just enough time to see most of the sights with kayaking on Chester Harbour and the tall ships and folk festival at Lunenburg the most memorable. Suzanne & Mike's vehicles allowed for easy travel and their home manager, Jim was available to provide for our transfer to Halifax railway station at the end of our stay. We would highly recommend Puffin Burrow and only hope that our hosts have enjoyed Australia as much as we did with our visit to the Canadian Maritimes.

Descripción de la casa que ofrecemos en intercambio
Beautiful Atlantic beaches and stunning views of St Margaret's Bay await you at "Puffin Burrow", our lovely home by the sea. Swim in our crystal clear waters or walk along our sandy shores. Soak up the sun and enjoy refreshing summer breezes on our decks. Have a relaxing afternoon tea in our solarium. Savour the freshest seafood, especially lobster, clams and scallops at local café and restaurants. Use our bicycles or hike along the popular coastal trails near our home. Enjoy great kayaking along our coastal waters, especially in area around the famous Peggy's Cove Lighthouse. We are 40 minutes from the airport and centrally located for exploring Nova Scotia, Canada's Ocean Playground. Use our comfortable van to visit fishing villages and historic sites in Halifax, Lunenburg, Grand Pré and Annapolis Royal. 1.5 hours to Annapolis Valley and the Bay of Fundy, famous for apples, wine and the world's highest tides. A few more hours drive will take to Cape Breton's spectacular Cabot Trail, the Fortress of Louisburg or the neighbouring provinces of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Enjoy whale-watching, fishing, golfing, sailing, as well as folk art and Celtic festivals.
We look forward to the second half of our New Zealand exchange at a future date. We are interested especially in exchanges in Arizona, Scotland and Ireland.
