The neighbourhood is know as "Atheneum", named as the biggest public school of Antwerp. It is situated between the Central Station and the ZOO in the centre of New Antwerp up to an big park in the Nord (24 hectares). It is situated 15 minutes walk from the medieval centre with the city house, the cathedral and the river. All transports available at less than 100m: city bikes (VELO), train, tram, bus,... even as bioscope, opera, main-bibliotheca, theatres,... Tens of bars and resto's, within 200meter and a lot more further on.
Within walking distance: dozens of museums, 100 old buildings (1800 - 1900, some medieval). Great new walking & biking promenades long the river. . In summer time there are free music events of all kinds, for children up to the wise generation. At the Central station different formulas available for renting bikes for a day or longer (City bikes are for short time and distance). FietsOstrade (free bike lanes along rail tracks) and on river bank dyke's brings you in the Stille Kempen, Kaltmhoutse Heide, Mechelen, Lier... Once you've been here... you'll come back !!
