We are a family of adults (mother and son) who love to travel, think, read and learn. We're seeking to learn about other countries, language and cultures. Either or both of us may be interested in a longer term house swap in Europe. I have two children both now adult and two grandchildren. I speak only English, my son speaks English and Swedish.

This is a beautiful sun-filled apartment only a few hundred metres from Bar Beach and the cafes of Darby street. Perfect getaway for a family or young couple looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Sydney. Suitable for professionals wanting a home away from home.
This unique two bedroom apartment has all the facilities that you could want for a beach stay in Newcastle. The spaces are comfortable with large bedrooms, a separate kitchen, living and dining spaces, including a bright sun room, and shared courtyard out the back. It is a brick apartment block and is comfortable in all seasons.
Guest access
The whole property is available for you to enjoy. Access is by key lock so you don't need to arrange a time for this. There are 3 small steps up into the apartment building. It's important to understand that this is in an urban area so noise should be kept to a minimum.

This property is 2 and a half hours from Sydney in Newcastle a smaller beachside city. Newcastle has many beautiful beaches and coffee shops, places to eat and is about 45 minutes from the famous Hunter Valley wineries. This property is only an easy (flat all the way) 10 minute walk to a number of iconic Newcastle areas, namely Bar Beach where you will not need to haggle for a parking spot as you can walk, The Junction Shopping Village, Darby Street and also Newcastle Harbour. Transport to Newcastle and Nobby's beach from the bus stop close by. Ample on-street parking for those bringing a car to explore Newcastle’s sights and surrounds.
If you want somewhere that is close to the Newcastle Netball Courts and ovals and skate park in Newcastle, this is also a very short walk.

Dónde ir y qué hacer mientras se esté en nuestra casa
Beaches – Bar Beach is a 5-minute walk, Merewether is a 5-minute drive, or half an hour walk along the promenade. There is also Anzac Memorial Walk to King Edward Park and the Blow hole and a number of ocean baths. Newcastle and Nobbys Beach are also close by and you can catch bus 21 outside to these beaches. There are take away and sit down cafes at all beaches. You can catch a ferry to Stockton and there is a large children's skate park and play ground.
Shopping – you can walk to a number of village type shopping precincts where there are supermarkets, cafe’s restaurants and specialty stores. Look for The Junction, Darby St and Marketown or drive to Hamilton or Hunter Street. The Beaches Hotel is walking distance at Merewether Beach and The Lowlands Bowling Club is a five-minute walk away, go along Bruce St at the side of the units and across the park at the end of the street. Lots of other local eateries in The Junction and along the various beaches. $10 pizzas at Merewether Beach by the water near the local baths in the evenings.
If you would like to see some native Australian animals there is also a lovely free nature reserve about 10 minutes drive away called Blackbutt Reserve.
The Hunter Valley wineries are a 45 minute drive away with wine tasting and lovely restuarants. The Hunter Valley Gardens are also very beautiful.

Please note that the number of guests agreed is the maximum number of guests allowable at the unit. Events and parties are not permitted as these are residential units and people’s homes.
When you leave:
Please leave our place tidy.
Put away dishes and empty dishwasher including cutlery tray.
Put leftover food in the rubbish bin and put the rubbish in the outside bin. If it is a Monday put the bin out on the sidewalk.
Turn off the lights, heaters and fans. Close and lock all doors and windows.
