We are Trish and Bob who are in our retirement phase. Over the years we have enjoyed over 25 home exchanges in many different countries as well as here in Australia. Bob is the gardener of the couple and is proud of his neat hedges and is always striving to obtain "weed free" garden beds. This seems to be like painting the Harbour Bridge. Meanwhile, Trish is the homemaker who took up making anything patchwork during the first lockdown, followed by using denim to upcycle bags and aprons. Her sewing room is often messy and she can just close the door until tomorrow. She enjoys cooking and recently the kitchen became part of an open plan living area which has given so much extra space to "play and cook". We always say it doesnt matter where we exchange as there is always something to see and do. While on exchanges, we enjoy walking and will visit any local venue recommended by our exchange partner. Bob is also a very keen photographer and this passion is fuelled by nature. Having joined again, we will enjoy making a comprehensive "home book" which will include as much information as possible to give our guests the best experience in Canberra.

Descripción de la casa que ofrecemos en intercambio
Our home is located in a quite cul-de-sac in a suburb approximately 15 km from the Canberra City Centre. Our home is well maintained, has heating and cooling and a newly renovated kitchen/living area. We have a very well appointed kitchen and very large island bench. The sitting area/tv space is cosy and has recliner chairs to relax in after a day out on the town. An outside entertaining area features a gas bbq, well tended gardens and a sail that shades the table. The main bedroom has an ensuite, but if you need separate sleeping arrangements another bedroom has 2 single beds for your convenience. The laundry has a washing machine and a clothesline captures most of the daily sunshine. A dryer is in the garage when necessary. Please note, there is no parking space in the garage at this stage, so we park in the driveway.

Descripción de nuestro barrio y la zona en que se encuentra
Our neighbourhood is quiet and the immediate neighbours are more like friends who are willing to help out if needed. Canberra has many cycling and walking paths and it is only a 750 metre walk to the local Kippax shopping centre. . This centre is home to Woolworths, Aldi as well as specialty and coffee shops. A creek walk is accessed nearby and sometimes kangaroos can be seen and birdlife heard and seen. A bus network can take you all over the city, however it is very driveable.

Dónde ir y qué hacer mientras se esté en nuestra casa
Canberra is Australia's National Capital and as such is home to many public buildings, all or some worth a visit. For example, Parliament House, National Archives, The National Museum, The Australian War Memorial, Questacon. The National Library, The National Film and Sound Archives.

Lo qué nos gusta y lo qué no... Estas son nuestras preferencias y normas domésticas.
We treat our home exchange partner's homes as we hope they will treat ours, with care and respect. Please let us know of any breakages. We have a "home book", that can be emailed to you which has a little more detail.
