From our house it is a stone's throw to the many cafes and shops in cosmopolitan Beaumont Street. There are lots of lovely places within walking distance: Gregson Park, Islington Park, Throsby Waters and Newcastle Harbour. Beautiful local beaches - Merewether, Bar, Newcastle and Nobby's beaches - are less than 10 minutes by car.
It is half an hour's drive to Lake Macquarie to the south, or Port Stephens to the north; less than an hour westwards to the Hunter Valley Vineyards; and an easy two-hour drive south to Sydney.
There is also easy access to public transport: it is a five-minute walk to trains and buses. Sydney trains run every hour.
It is a half-hour drive to Newcastle Airport. Daily direct flights to Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide are available from Newcastle Airport.
