We are back on Homelink in 2023, after a break of a few years. As a couple, we would like to travel with 1 of our now adult daughters.
We, as a family, have completed some wonderful exchanges to Chicago/Texas, Sweden, Italian/Swiss border, UK, and France. This time we are hoping for an exchange to Sydney, Australia, for a few weeks to a month, in April 2024, but dates not set in stone - we certainly would consider any offers.
We have a comfortable home on 1/2acre, 1 mile from the village of Oranmore. Ideal to tour West of Ireland. Shannon airport -60mins, Dublin Airport 2 hours. We live in a semi-rural area, yet only 7 miles from Galway City centre.
Galway is known as the "City of the Tribes". It is a very young, vibrant, University city which is steeped in tradition and culture. July/August time is when the city really buzzes. We have our Arts festival which runs straight on into the world famous horse racing festival. At this time the city is a hive of activity with street theatre, pubs and restaurants are buzzing with life, as they are most of the time but the city really comes to life for the festival season.
On the other hand if you would prefer a quieter type of holiday, we can do that too! You can easily travel to the "Burren" in Co. Clare which is famous for it's unique flora and rock formation, and of the course the wonderful Cliffs of Moher. Or you can go on past Galway city deep into the heart of the real tradition of Connemara, where you can visit the Aran Islands by ferry and and get a taste of it's native Irish speakers, friendly pubs, traditional Irish music sessions, restaurants and unspoiled beaches on our wonderful rugged coastline, with a scenery 2nd to none.
We live just 1 mile from the busy little village of Oranmore which has pubs,restaurants, shopping centre, post offices , banks, etc. We are an ideal base for touring the west of Ireland and its surrounds.

We live on a peaceful road with detached homes. Friendly neighbourhood. Less than a mile from the village of Oranmore.

You can walk take a leisurely walk to the nearest village of Oranmore and it will take about 35 minutes. Or you can drive in about 5 minutes. There is everything you will need in Oranmore.... shops, post office, restaurants, bars, cinema, hotel, petrol station etc etc. The city of Galway is about 20 mintues drive... and there the possibilities are endless!!
