Just recently retired, we are both looking forward to travelling abroad. Ideally we prefer to travel between Jan - May or Sept - Nov. Our exchanges can be non-simultaneous or simultaneous depending on the time of year. We have two adult children that may join us once in a while. Neither of us smoke, and we will be sure to look after your property as it was our own. We have two cottages on a beautiful point of land. Either could be available depending on your timing. In addition to use of our cottage in the Kawarthas, we have a lovely large home 40 minutes from Toronto which we could host for a few days.

Read More...One of our favourite exchanges! We loved Stoney Lake...what a beautiful spot. Perfect for an active yet totally relaxing family holiday. We drove from Toronto to the cottage with a stop off for dinner in lovely Lakefield which is about 30 minutes away. Sharon and Alan were there to meet us and show us around their property. They are lovely people and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is perfect and has such great space around it. Loads of spots to sit and enjoy the wonderful views. We loved being on the lake and made great use of the pedal boat and the kayaks that were kindly left for us. The water was amazing, Crystal clear and weed free which made swimming a dream. Sharon and Alan gave us a wonderful trip around the lake on their boat and some great suggestions for places to go for lunch or dinner. McCrackens Landing and Crows Landing were great spots for a meal by the water. Would highly recommend Sharon and Alan’s cottage. We had a fantastic time and hope to return for another visit some time in the future.

Read More...What a great stay we had at Stoney Lake! After a 3 hour very easy drive from Toronto Airport we had a very warm welcome by Sharon and Alan, who showed us around the house, the point and explained everything. We felt completely relaxed straight away, and that feeling stayed with us the whole week. Swimming, sunbathing, BBQ, kayak, the hammock, the silence and spectacular views over the lake, picknick on one of the islands after a short hour kayak. The children loved it! They still talk about the trip with the motorboat on which Sharon and Alan took us around Stoney Lake (speeding up on open water was a blast!). Which of the 5 boat/sundecks to choose from, was the toughest decision to make every day. We didn't go out very much, just because it was so great to stay there. Went out for a few outdoor meals at the nearby landings, did a nice 2 hour walk in the Petroglyphs-park around the corner (Bear warning, didn't encounter one), some grocery shopping and so on. The last night we had a beer with the family, and enjoyed getting to know each other. We think that this is a big advantage compared to non sim. exchanges and Sharon and Alan are great company. For us, this was the best start we could imagine of a nearly 5 weeks holiday in the eastern part of America. And we can recommend everyone to come to see for themselfs and experience the 'outdoor' feeling, the rest, the beautiful lake and of course the family. Sharon and Alan, Thanks again for all, hope one day we will have the opportunity to meet again. Greetings from Holland, Hetty, Jeroen, Sophie and Gijs

Descripción de la casa que ofrecemos en intercambio
We have 2 beautiful cottages on a point of land. Depending on timing, either cottage could be available. Each cottage is unique, comfortable and with great outdoor views. Cottages offered in simultaneous or non-simultaneous exchange. The cottage is on Upper Stoney Lake, which is known as the "Jewel of the Kawarthas". Surrounded by water & nestled in the trees, facing west, south & east; located at end of a private road and best time to visit in summer is between June-Oct for swimming.
Gorgeous long view of lake & islands; Enjoy sunsets and sunrises. There is approx 550 feet of waterfront - enjoy a wonderful breeze on the hottest of days. Exposed pink granite shoreline as we are on the Canadian Shield and wade in sandy beach area. Excellent swimming, crystal clear water, mature pine trees (over 100 years old). Open area to play volleyball, badminton, soccer, croquet etc
Sheltered back bay & designated wetland behind the cottages which is great for children to look for frogs, turtles . 3 Kayaks, paddle boat, canoe and fishing boat with motor available for use. Fire pit for evening gatherings. Many lovely attractions, hiking trails nearby. There is separate boat house, which is used as a games room / entertainment area or office for those who need to do some work while away... it has high speed internet access. We have much flexibility to accommodate Homelink requests as we have the two properties and will respond to all requests.
Great opportunity to plan a week of relaxation at the beginning or end of your trip to Toronto ( 2 hours) , Ottawa (3 hours) or Montreal (4.5 hours). European guests have combined the cottage experience with a trip to the USA. We look forward to hearing from you about an exchange opportunity.
