• A place to feel good in North Jutland

  We spent two relaxing weeks in Oue. We found Lones’s and Per’s house very comfortable and cosy, the garden wonderful in the early spring. We enjoyed looking after the chickens, watching them and being rewarded with fresh eggs every day. We got to know Jutland through our daily excursions, the many historical towns, the beaches in the west and in the east and Skagen in the north. We went hiking as often as the weather allowed. Jutland really is a very varied region and Lone's and Per's place is a good starting point for this.

  Ces vacances furent une tres belle rencontre avec le Danemark, dans la charmante et confortable maison de Lone and Per , si « cozy » avec un jardin tres romantique. Nous étions en octobre mais le temps globalement ensoleillé nous permis de parcourir agréablement le fiord et ses ravissants petits ports et la cote a l’est . Nous avons pu visiter quelques grandes villes du Danemark , et nous avons aime Aarhus, ville tres animée et sa sympathique jeunesse, Silkeborg et son tres interessant musée sur l’homme de Tollund, Ribe si pittoresque . Mais tout au nord nous avons adore Skagen et sa vue spectaculaire sur la rencontre de la mer du nord et de la Baltique et par chance nous avons croise quelques phoques sur la plage . Voila qui rend heureux ! En continu durant ce sejour nous avons maintenu avec Per et Lone des échanges quotidiens écrits sur whatsApp qui ont permis a la fois de construire un lien tres sympathique mais aussi d’affiner notre voyage .   We had a fantastic two weeks at Per and Lone’s beautiful home in Oue, northern Denmark. It’s very spacious, with a large modern kitchen and a glass-walled dining / relaxing room. There are two big outdoor seating /dining areas, and a huge garden full of flowers, fruit trees and zero-maintenance chickens (just collect their eggs). Oue is near to Mariager Fjord, where you can take hikes and boat trips between attractive towns, villages and docks. You can see great views from Bramslev Bakken café/bar, highly recommended for lunch or drinks. We also had an excellent evening at Bramslev Gaard restaurant nearby. At the inland end of the fjord there’s a fascinating Viking settlement (Fyrkat) where we saw a wild otter. Lone and Per gave us lots of ideas for days out. Madum Sø (a 15 minute drive) is a large shallow forest lake, ideal for walks and swimming. Some of Denmark’s best east coast beaches are nearby. We saw eagles and cranes at Lille Vildmose nature reserve and seals at Skagen, Denmark’s northernmost tip. We enjoyed the cities of Aalborg and Århus, especially the Århus old town (Den Gamle By), as well as trips to the Silkeborg Lake District and a stunning coastal town, Ebeltoft. Communication with Per and Lone was excellent throughout our stay. We would have liked to have had more time in Oue – it was a great home exchange that we would very much like to repeat in the future.

• Beautiful week in autumnal Jutland

  We spent a very relaxing holiday week in Per and Lone's house. We were able to go on beautiful walks around their home town of Oue. The Mariager Fjord is particularly idyllic. The forests gave us mushrooms and we always enjoyed the beautiful little towns along the fjord, like Stinesminde and Mariager. Trips to Skagen and Aalborg rounded off the week. The house is cosy and modern at the same time. The garden is large and beautiful, the neighbourhood very quiet. Wonderful for relaxing. Per is a very experienced and communicative exchange partner.
