Chill or explore - great tranquil rural gite
We had a fabulous week in this lovely tranquil area of rural France, so quiet and peaceful, yet scratch the surface and lots to do and see. Locally a few highlights included the extensive Piegut-Pluviers weekly market, picnicking by the river watching the kayaks navigate the weir at Brantome, watching the knife makers at work in Nontron and of course the numerous nearby lakes with their lovely easy walks, cafes and restaurants. Further afield the Chateau at Rochechouart is fascinating and well worth the drive. There's a very modest charge to view the interior and the exhibits, highly recommended. We also took the opportunity to visit Oradour-sur-Glane and learn more about the awful events that unfolded here in WW2. The gite was ideal, spacious and comfortable, quiet and secluded. All in all a fabulous week. Thank you Gail and Chris.
Holiday home in rural France
Chris and Gail's holiday home (gite) in rural France is lovely. The ground floor is open plan with patio doors onto a secluded garden. And upstairs, four very good sized bedrooms. It is well equipped and very clean and tidy. It is a great area for exploring rural France. We loved the quietness and tranquility of staying there and highly recommend. Gail and Chris were great hosts.
La maison est vaste, très bien équipée (il y a tout ce qu'il faut pour cuisiner ! et c'est sympa de pouvoir avoir accès aux CD/DVD et livres). La campagne alentour est magnifique : moutons, vaches, fermes, sentiers de randonnée, étangs, rivières, forêts... Je me suis régalée ! Gail et Chris ont été très sympathiques et réactifs dans leur communication.
