Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Sunny and modern 2-level corner-site home with tidy areas of gardens and shrubs with outdoor seating and BBQ. The house has a spacious open plan living area, separate entrance way and separate laundry and bathroom downstairs with internal access from the double garage. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, the main one with ensuite, walk-in wardrobe and balcony. The other upstairs bathroom includes a shower over a bath. The home faces north, has level access and is overlooking McCormacks Bay Reserve beside the
Christchurch Estuary.
We share our home with a Birman cat, Maddison. She almost all of her time inside and likes company in the few hours when she is not sleeping.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our home is on the flat on a corner site at the end of a small cluster of modern homes in a little valley. It faces north and overlooks McCormacks Bay Reserve on a relatively quiet local access road. The main road runs via a causeway on the other side of the bay to the seaside village of Sumner (5 minutes drive) which features two beaches and another one over the hill a few more minutes. We are at the base of the Port Hills with many walking tracks to choose from. There are some easy walks from the house on the flat by the water as well as up the valley and nearby hill suburbs. It is just 10 minutes drive to Lyttelton Harbour via the tunnel, and 5 minutes to several supermarkets and 15 minutes to the city centre. The airport is around 15 minutes further on. There are several new cycleways near by on which you could use our mountain bikes. Two bus routes have stops just a few minutes walk from the house.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
There are lots of walks nearby on the Port Hills and at Sumner with the local promenade walk alongside Scarborough Beach with cafe's at either end a popular choice. Popular days trips include through the tunnel to Lyttelton Harbour and around it's shoreline to Diamond Harbour village and cafe's. It can be easy reached by regular ferries from Lyttelton too. Further afield Akaroa village is a popular day trip on Banks Peninsula with multiple cafe's and other attractions including swimming with the dolphins and other scenic trips on the harbour. To the north Hanmer Springs is a popular day trip with hot pools, forest walking trails and bike rides to choose from. Arthurs Pass is a longer day trip to the west with alpine walks and scenery to enjoy. Queenstown is 7 hours drive and Milford Sound 12 but it is better to have an exchange further south to explore those area.
Interesting day trips
Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
Care/company for our cat (Maddison) means we usually want simultaneous exchanges. She is relatively easy care with just one wet food provision per day and some biscuits left out all the time. She can be left day or two on own if you are going out of town. She exits the house briefly on her own via a catflap for toileting, although also has a litter bin in the laundry, She spends most of time indoors sleeping, but enjoys company in the late afternoon and evening.
Watering of the garden and lawns could be required in summer (hosing and a system turned on by tap.
We have a repeat exchange just after Christmas 2022 but looking to have an exchange for Christmas 2023 and into the New Year 2024 We are also interested in other exchanges in spring or early summer in New Zealand.
