I am a single "senior" woman who is enjoying travel as a part of my busy retirement lifestyle. My home is in The Villages, Florida. I travel in and out of the country, sometimes with one or more friends or family members, and, occasionally, alone. I had a rewarding career as a teacher, professor, school superintendent and, last, leadership development and search consultant. I have an entertaining cat who can be considered for mutual pet care, but that is not a requirement. I value my home and will take great care of yours as though it were mine. I have completed four home exchanges since beginning in 2014 -- two in The Netherlands, Belgium, and Hawaii, all very successful. I have three exchanges in the UK which are pending, postponed from May 2020 because of the pandemic, and I have a new exchange planned for Spain. Fellow exchangers have become my friends! I can’t say enough about the value of home exchanging in my life.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
The Villages is a one-of-a-kind recreation and wellness oriented community. Most residents are 55+ and savor a busy, sociable lifestyle filled with tennis, pickleball, golf, music, dancing, swimming and water exercise. Joggers, walkers and bicyclists enjoy a network of paths winding through the abundant green spaces. My home is a comfortable, well-equipped 1600 sq. ft., 3 bedroom courtyard villa. It has a stucco exterior with a 5-6 ft. wall around the outdoor courtyard area. Floors are dark hardwood with area rugs and ceramic tile in the lanai (my favorite place for morning coffee and the newspaper).

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
The Villages provides a gated, safe and attractive community where you can take advantage of a steady stream of recreational, musical or sports activities of your choice. There are three "town squares" where stores and restaurants are gathered around a central gazebo where residents enjoy nightly musical entertainment, dancing and socializing. There are several dozen swimming pools and golf courses, as well as many large recreational centers with tennis or pickleball courts, Olympic-sized pools, and a range of interest-based activities. Residents enjoy zipping from place to place in their customized golf carts on dedicated golf cart paths or in their cars. For those who wish, Orlando's many theme parks are a little more than an hour away.

See our comments in the Neighborhood section. DisneyWorld, SeaWorld and other Orlando theme parks are slightly more than an hour's drive from The Villages. We are located in central Florida just about midway between the Atlantic and Gulf Coast beaches which are about an hour and a half away. Ocala, 20 miles north is horse country for those who want to tour thoroughbred farms or go trail riding.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
My home can accommodate four people comfortably. This is a 55+ community with no children in full time residence, but children are welcome visitors. Grandchildren visiting grandparents enjoy many activities, particularly the designated family swimming pools and Camp Villages activities during school vacation breaks. I include in the exchange my 4-passenger Yamaha gas-powered golf cart. Use of my car is negotiable depending on the nature of the exchange. (Enterprise Car Rental maintains an office in The Villages.) For exchangers looking for shared pet care, I can consider this optional as well. I have a playful, sociable cat for whom I can make other arrangements when pet care is not desired. Smoking is not allowed in or outside my home.
