It was great to have time to truly explore at leisure and we even had time to do a circle trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona too. It is not too hot in the summer, as friends had suggested it might be, as rain showers often occur in the evenings.10,000 Waves Spa up the road was a bonus after some busy walking and cycling days. Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We live in a Santa Fe style home within walking distance to the historic plaza. Our home is comfortable and cozy with 2 fireplaces, vigas and great furnishings. There is a deck with 360 degree views of the Jemez Mts.in Los Alamos(45 miles), the Sandia Mts in Albuquerque (50 miles) and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains up the road from us. Our home is located off the road to the ski area and many hiking trails (20 minutes)and an easy walk to town through a historic city neighborhood. We have 2 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bath.
The master bedroom (king size bed)is on the second floor with a kiva fireplace and a view of the ski area. It has an enormous master bath with jacuzzi tub, large updated shower stall, granite countertops with double vessel sinks and a huge closet. An office outside the bedroom has internet access. The 2nd bedroom has a king size bed, a private patio with a table and chairs. The guest bathroom has granite countertops a vessel sink and a glassed in shower stall.
The living room has a fireplace and comfortable furniture ( 2 leather recliners) as well as a TV, DVD Player and stereo in a Santa Fe Style Armoire. The dining room has New Mexico style furniture and seating for 8. There is a door out to the patio as well.
The kitchen was just remodeled over the winter. We have a new stove with 2 ovens-1 is convection and an induction cooktop and new microwave. The eat in breakfast bar looks out to the patio. We have 2 sets of outdoor tables and chairs, for the patio and the rooftop deck. We have an enormous gas BBQ grill. The house also has a washer/dryer a new air conditioning system and lots of ceiling fans.
The main patio primarily has drought resistant plants and herbs and a few tomatoes. All the plants and pots are on a drip system with a timer- no muss no fuss! We have bikes and a garage for your use as well.
10,000 Waves, a Japanese spa is right up the road from us. Check out www.meowwolf.com to see an innovative exploration space for adults and children alike! Also look at www.santafe.org website to see the city.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our subdivision has a PRIVATE COMMUNITY POOL, TENNIS COURT, CLUBHOUSE with dressing rooms and a RACQUETBALL COURT. IT IS LIKE LIVING AT A RESORT!!! You can walk to the pool through a dry wash, where we often see deer and rabbits.
Our neighborhood is a 15 minute walk through an arroyo to quiet city streets that lead to the historic Santa Fe plaza.
Santa Fe has 80,000 residents but in the summer has a world class opera and world class chamber music. There is free music and dancing 4-6 nights a week on the plaza, as well as at the rail yard where the renowned Farmers Market is located.
Santa Fe also has theatre, ballet, flamenco performances and more. There are numerous state and local museums including the O'Keefe Museum all of which have ongoing programs. Meow Wolf is worth checking out as well!!!
Friday nights many of the 200 art galleries host public openings on Canyon Road and around the Plaza.
The restaurants are fabulous and have food for every taste. Checkout TripAdvisor online.
Hiking is out our door. We are located 5 minutes from mountain hikes in the Sangre de Christo Mountains.
Santa Fe hosts the International Folk Art Market and the Spanish Market in July. The largest Indian Market is held on the Plaza in August.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
See above: The national and state parks in our area are worth visiting. Native Americans inhabited the area before Columbus came to our country. The Santa Fe National Forest is right up the road and Bandelier National Park is only 1 hour away outside of Los Alamos, where the first atomic bomb was developed during WWII. They have 2 museums and wonderful areas to hike.
