Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

We are a recently retired lawyer and a photographer interested in travel throughout the world. Our home is a 1916 Craftsman style home in West Portal, one of SF's most desirable neighborhoods. The house is warm and comfortable, furnished primarily with antiques, paintings, and photographs. The first floor has a living room with fireplace, a formal dining room, kitchen and a breakfast room. Upstairs there were originally 4 bedrooms (two of which are now converted to a computer den and a photo studio). Of course, there is WiFi and the usual assortment of TVs and electronic gear. Outside we have a small garden with an artificial stream and a small koi pond.

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

We are located in central San Francisco. To the south are Silicon Valley, Stanford University, and beautiful countryside. Two to three hours away are Carmel and Big Sur. To the North, across the Golden Gate Bridge, are Sausalito, Mill Valley, the Sonoma and Napa wine country, and beautiful stretches of spectacular coastline. To the East, across the Bay Bridge are Oakland, Berkeley, rolling hills, and many historic towns. The Gold Rush country and the Sierra Nevada Mountains are just 3 to 4 hours away.
We are open to the possibility of a car or bicycle exchange.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

We've done a number of prior exchanges with wonderful hospitable people in the US and in Europe. Children are welcome.

We are inclined toward exchanges in major cities in the US and Europe (particularly Paris and New York) but are very open to other places, as well. We tend to prefer travelling in the Spring or Fall, but are flexible on the timing if the place is interesting.
