Description of the home we are offering for exchange
HomeLinkers since 2010
Penthouse unit in apartment complex beside the calm waters of Hervey Bay. 300 km north of Brisbane. The bay is a nursing area for the humpback whales on their journey up and down the east coast of Australia. There is abundant birdlife and the bay waters are a prime fishing area. Restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The gated apartment complex has pools and tennis courts. Hervey Bay is very quiet and is a popular destination in winter for Aussies who live in the South.
Our building has four floors and our unit is on the top two floors and there are no elevators / lifts. You need to be able to use the stairs. The view is worth it.
We will be available for an exchange in 2021 when the pandemic is over.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Hervey Bay is a relaxing tourist city approximately 300 km north of Brisbane. The waters of the bay are protected by Fraser Island, the world's largest sand island. Consequently, there is no surf which makes it ideal for families with young children and retirees. The most popular tourist activity is whale watching during June - November. Mother whales use the bay as a nursery for the newborn whales. Fraser Island offers 4-wheel driving, rain forest walking trails, pristine beaches, dingos and sandy cliffs. Nearby Maryborough is filled with 19th-century buildings and was the birthplace of P.L. Travers, the author of Mary Poppins.
There are numerous restaurants, superb seafood and a walking / bicycle path that stretches the length of the bay. The old wooden jetty at Urangan is 868 meters long and is a popular fishing spot. There are two significant tides each day and it is a delight to walk out onto the sand at low tide and watch the thousands of tiny soldier crabs. Of course, you can go swimming in the sea at high tide. The water is warm for most of the year. Or you can lie on the sand.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
It's a short walk to restaurants, cafes and shops at the Boat Harbour complex. From mid-July to early November, numerous whale watching tours leave from the Boat Harbour. https://tasmanventure.com.au/whale-watching-tours/ Trips to Fraser Island leave from nearby River Heads. Supermarkets are a 5-minute drive away. The best thing about our location is being able to watch dogs, children and adults having a wonderful time on the beach or in the water.
