Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Located 1 mi. from downtown Napa (a 20 min. walk) in a quiet hillside neighborhood surrounded by trees, you will find my 3 bedroom, 2 bath recently remodeled home. On this peaceful ½ acre property you might see deer, rabbits, or a fox. Certainly birds and squirrels! Pick tomatoes or fruit from my garden, depending on the season, and relax on the private deck after a day of wine tasting, gourmet dining, bicycling, canoeing, hiking, or exploring what San Francisco (one hour away) has to offer.
I am new to Homelink but have hosted travelers to the Napa Valley thru Airbnb and often made my home available to those working at the annual film festival and writer’s workshop. Finally I’m able to travel and excited to exchange homes, possibly, with you!

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Alta Heights is a residential hillside neighborhood filled with trees (many century and older oak trees) and wildlife. A pleasant walk to the heart of downtown Napa ( a river runs thru it!) with its plethora of fine dining, wine, entertainment and recreation opportunities. At the south end of the 35 mi.long Napa Valley, the climate is moderate and there is ready access to over 400 wineries throughout the Valley as well as access to the ocean and San Francisco about 1 hr. away by car. Bike and canoe rentals are available and there are numerous hiking trails. You will find peace and solitude on my private deck after a busy (or not!) day. Napa is easy to navigate with lots of parking and little traffic.

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Napa still has a small town feel. A 15 min. walk takes you to the Oxbow Marketplace with its variety of indoor eateries, coffee shop, bakery, olive oil shop, etc.; a real hangout for locals and visitors alike. Walk another 10 minutes and you are in downtown where you might run into a music festival, Shakespeare performance in Veteran's Park or art show. Within easy driving distance there is diRosa art museum, an incredible collection of S.F. Bay Area art of the past 60 years, and the Napa Valley Museum. In the fall you might witness "crush" at a winery or take a tour to watch grapes turn into liquid gold. The climate is moderate, humidity low (read, few bugs!) and the locals very friendly. St. Helena and Calistoga are nearby and offer even more opportunities to experience the beauty of the Valley. And more wine and great food!

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

I am respectful of other's property and appreciate the same in return. This location is more suited to adults, but an older child (or 2 if they can share a queen bed) is okay. I am open to longer exchanges, up to 2 months.
