Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We are interested in responsible homelinkers for either simultaneous or non-simultaneous exchanges.
Ours is a large home located on a sunny, warm & ⅔ acre private lot. Our home was recently remodeled and has Persian rugs atop hardwood floors, a few antiques, and lots of modern furnishings.
There are 3 fireplaces, a wet bar, a music room/kids playroom, a large garden, and a great outdoor entertainment area as we;; as a large and well-appointed Kitchen. The kitchen opens up to a cozy entertainment area; flat screen TV (no cable, but we have Netflix and Amazon Prime), a Mac computer and a gas fireplace insert. Separate wing with 2 kid's bedrooms and its own bathroom. Guest bedroom is in the sunny rear of the house w/own bathroom. Separate children's playroom/music full of toys, can double as an extra sleeping area. Formal dining area; large living room w/baby grand piano. We also have a small workout space, a sauna and a hot tub.
Master bedroom suite has its own gas/wood fireplace

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our home is located near all the best things about the Central Coast of California: World class golf, beaches, shopping, hiking, and close proximity to San Francisco.
Monterey is a small, but bustling and picturesque town located on the Monterey Peninsula. The beaches and towns of Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, and Carmel are only minutes away and the area is famous for being one of the most beautiful places in California. We are also about 45 minutes from Big Sur and 2 hrs to San Francisco. Our neighborhood, although close to town, is quiet, rural-feeling friendly and peaceful. The beach, and "recreational trail" is about 1⁄4 mile away, the heart of Monterey, wharves, marina, bars, restaurants and other shopping areas are within walking distance. Carmel, Pacific Grove and other well-known communities are all within a 5 minute drive.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Our house is a 15 walk from the beach and recreation trail. We are a 8 minute walk to historic downtown Monterey, the first capital of California. Ours is the oldest neighborhood in California; there are 4 historic adobe homes on our street. The recreation trail leads you past the gorgeous Monterey Bay, a marine sancturary home to endangered otters as well as dolphins, seals sea lions and other marine mammals. A 1/2 hour walk takes you to historic Cannary Row and the world-renown Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Monterey is also near many world famous golf courses, including Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay and Pasadara. The charming town of Carmel-by-the-sea is 7 minutes away by car. It is home to the Carmel Mission, many art galleries and restaurants, a gorgeous beach and a Frank Lloyd Wright home.
A 10 minute drive south of Carmel takes you to Point Lobos State park, an exquisite easy to moderate hiking area. 45 minutes south is Big Sur, with many hikes through ancient redwood forests. Come see!

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
Please check our exchange preferences below
Car Exchange is negotiable, especially if you are offering your car for exchange!
We have a dog, but will most likely have her somewhere else so you won't have to be responsible... unless you'd like pet care to be part of the exchange. We have one goldfish, who we would ask you to feed.
Smoking is not allowed.
I am a gardener and love plants. Most of our outdoor garden is on an automatic system, and I usually ask my neighbor to take care of the veggies and what is not on the system. There are only a few indoor plants, which I may ask you to water once per week, depending on the length of your stay.
