From having lovely conversations prior to our visit, books on the area and resources mailed to us ahead of time, and a plethora of information awaiting us upon our arrival, we could not have been more prepared for a seamless visit. Our only regret is that we could not meet in person and we hope to do that in the future.

#1 Tourist Destination in the US and the Second Top Travel City in the World!
Ratings from Conde Nast Traveler. Our modern and spacious home on Johns Island, SC, is close to SC beaches and Charleston, SC. Charleston is abundant with historical, cultural, artistic and culinary riches. Our home has all the modern conveniences, including central air conditioning, screened/glassed porch, outdoor deck and gas cooking inside and outdoors, and nearby club pool. The den can be used for more sleepers with cot or portable/ inflatable bed. Downtown Charleston and Atlantic Ocean beaches and the barrier islands are only a few minutes away.
Charleston's history includes the beginning of America's Civil War (at Fort Sumter) and many other sites rich with Civil War memorabilia and history. These include an example of a rice plantation at the height of the rice trade and a rare working tea plantation.
We have had 11 Home-Link visits since 2004.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our neighborhood is very rural - but it has two of the top Charleston area restaurants within 2 miles. We are 20 minutes from Charleston proper with its myriad of shops, restaurants, historical sights and homes and the two major plantations in our area. Charleston is also noted for its art galleries. We're 15 minutes from the sunrise at Folly Beach; we're just 20 minutes from the gorgeous sunset at Kiawah Island. We're 20 minutes from the nation's only tea plantation and the Firefly distillery. We're just an hour & 15 minutes from Savannah, GA, that has the most wonderful series of pre- Civil War squares.

#1 tourist destination in the US! http://www.charlestoncvb.com/visitors/tripplanner/what_to_see_do~3/attractions~31/
Beaches and plantations are nearby. We're 20 minutes from downtown Charleston that features the City Market and a host of other shops. Cultural festivals held on a regular basis include the annual SPOLETO music festival (http://spoletousa.org/), MOZART festival, and jazz and bluegrass events among others. Street fairs and art tours are a regular monthly occurrence.
Charleston's history includes the beginning of America's Civil War at Ft. Sumter and many other sites rich with Civil War memorabilia and history. These include an example of a rice plantation at the height of the rice trade and a rare working tea plantation.
The many galleries and museums offer a large and varying display of local arts and crafts such as centuries old sweet grass basket weaving.
Savannah, GA, is another rich historical icon of the American South. It is about an hour and a half drive from Charleston and a frequent overnight destination for many South Carolinians.
