Michael is a retired contractor, builder and fixer of almost anything (says Rachel). 57 year old Rachel retired in 2018 and recently took on an assignment, working as an IT consultant through the end of the 2019. Description of the home we are offering for exchange
The Bean Station Homestead is located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of northwestern New York. These clean glacier formed lakes provide the perfect environment for all types of recreation and enhanced climate for the nearly one hundred wineries in the region. Our home is situation on 75 acres of private land which is adjacent to the Urbana forest, with hiking trails, a pond and small waterfall. Fresh eggs from our chickens or organic vegetables from our garden will provide a nice addition to any meals you wish to prepare in the fully stocked kitchen.

From the Homestead you can see no neighbors, however there are several homes within walking distance. We value our neighbors and each would be there in moments if you needed help. Bean Station road is a very self reliant neighborhood with people who grow much of their own food, and includes an organic vegetable farm, a blueberry farm and a Christmas tree farm.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
We are located in one of the finest wine growing regions (as voted by USA today readers poll). A dozen or more wineries, breweries and distilleries are within a 10 mile radius and are extremely welcoming. Many of these establishments also offer outdoor live entertainment throughout the summer. The Glen Curtiss museum of Flight and the Corning Glass museum are also in the area. Watkins Glen State Park and Letchworth State Park were listed #1 and #3 on the national list of state parks (2015). Both of these parks boast beautiful hiking trails and spectacular waterfalls.

We will present you with a clean, neat and well maintained home and would like to return and find it in that same condition. We remove our shoes at the door in our home and will do the same in your home.
