Suzanne and I have been married for more than 40 years and have no children. Suzanne retired in 2018 from a career as an attorney with experience in both private practice and with the Attorney General's office in three states. I (Huey) retired in early 2018 from a career as a data scientist having worked for a number of companies over my career. We met as music majors in our freshman year of college and continue to have a passion for classical music along with a interest in all forms of popular music. After outliving many dogs, in 2017, we adopted two Japanese Bobtail Cats -- Freddy and Simon. Retirement has allowed the us to fulfill our dream of living in the beautiful, high altitude, pine forests of northern Arizona in Flagstaff.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our new home enjoys a great view of Humphreys Peak in the San Francisco Peaks which border Flagstaff to the north. Sitting at about 7 thousand feet elevation, Flagstaff is a small college town of about 65 thousand with almost half being either students or faculty of Northern Arizona University. Tourism is the primary industry with Flagstaff being a focal point to reach The Grand Canyon (1.5 hours), Sedona (1 hour), Arizona Snowbowl Ski Area (35 minutes), Sunset Crater National Monument (32 minutes), Walnut Canyon National Monument (13 minutes), and downtown Flagstaff (5 minutes).
Our home is part of a new community of town-homes and was completed in December 2017 within the Flagstaff Ranch gated community. It has over 2,500 square feet of living space with two of the three bedrooms having en-suite bathrooms. The master bedroom and bath is downstairs and two bedrooms and a bath are upstairs. We have two gas fireplaces - one in the living-room/den downstairs and one in a light and airy loft on the second floor. We have high-speed internet service and WIFI throughout the home. We do not subscribe to cable TV services, but use streaming services through our smart-TV accessing Netflix, Amazon Video, Google Play Music, YouTube and many others.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our town-home is in a gated golf community in a scenic Ponderosa Pine forest, just minutes from Flagstaff, AZ. Flagstaff is close to 7,000 feet elevation with adjacent San Francisco Peaks rising to over 12,000 feet. It seldom gets extremely hot in Flagstaff and the humidity is always low. On only one or two days a year does the temperature climb over 89 °F. Because temperatures average 25 degrees Fahrenheit lower than the Phoenix area, Flagstaff is a favorite summer getaway from the desert area down south. Flagstaff, Arizona is high mountain forest country. At 7,000 feet elevation, you can expect four distinct seasons: mild summers, golden colors of fall, snowy winters and meadows of wild flowers in the spring.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We would like to allow our two cats to remain in the house during your visit. They are indoor cats, so you would have to be responsible for keeping exterior doors closed to prevent their leaving the house. There are plenty of screened windows so you can open the house up for ventilation. If you are uncomfortable with pet care, we can arrange to have someone come in each day to do the cat litter removal and feeding.
We will consider children who are mature enough to manage the stairs and could be responsible to ensure the cats do not leave the house.
