Debra and Boyd were especially attentive hosts, conscientious, thoughtful and available for advice and recommendations. Their home was spotless, a comfortable, and even luxurious place to return to after our outings to local beaches and sights. The Coaster train to San Diego left from a nearby station which we drove to and gave us access to the San Diego Zoo, Old Town, Balboa Park, and the San Diego Bay with either short walks or bus transfers. Finally, Encinitas is a charming, laid back, beach town reminiscent of past times when Southern California was less crowded and more relaxed. We were able to avoid freeways for the most part or drive them during non peak hours, venturing as far as Corona del Mar and Dana Point (where we enjoyed a whale watching trip with guaranteedd dolphin sightings). Surf lessons are available as are wet suit rental and other surfing equipment. In short we thoroughly enjoyed our three week stay and have never felt more at home during our exchange!
