We are a professional couple (software engineer and academic) with two young children (almost 2 and 5) who recently moved from San Francisco to Bend, Oregon. Unforeseen circumstances have called us back to the Bay Area for the remainder of 2019. We thought that we might be able to arrange a house exchange with someone else interested in trying out life in Bend. We are seeking a house with at least two bedrooms in one of the towns off of the 101 corridor anywhere between the Inner Richmond of San Francisco and St Vincent in Marin. We are happy in a small space, but would really like a yard and the ability to walk to a town center from the house. We are somewhat flexible with dates. We could start in early or mid August. We need to stay at least until October 16th, but longer would also work, up to four or five months. Let us know if you are interested!

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We have a historic home in the heart of Bend, Oregon. It is set on a quarter acre on a block of stately homes with parklike grounds. The location is perfect: Drake Park and the Deschutes River are two blocks away. Downtown is a five minute walk. We just did a complete wall-to-wall historically attuned remodel, with brand new systems, radiant floor heating, a main level master bedroom suite, and an open concept chef’s kitchen. It has all the comforts of new construction while maintaining the charm of a historic English cottage style home.
I'm happy to take more photos if there is interest. The house is a mess (see: children) and I am waiting on delivery of some furniture, so I figured I'd just start with the kitchen :)

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our neighborhood is very quiet and residential, but within walking distance of most everything the town of Bend has to offer, including the river, downtown Bend, and the shops and restaurants on Galveston Ave. We are a pleasant mile up the river path from the Old Mill District.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
We are regulars at Jackson's Corner, a great restaurant and bread baker only a few blocks from us. Our favorite downtown destinations are the Wednesday Farmer's market, Thump Coffee and Wild Rose Thai.
We walk to do our shopping at Market of Choice (.7 mi), Newport Ave Market (.7 mi away), or Paradise Produce and Primal Cuts on Galveston (.5 mi). And we split our playground time between Harmon and Colombia Park.
There is plenty of shopping to be done downtown and in the Old Mill District. The Old Mill District is also where to go to rent kayaks or inner tubes for floating on the river.
Bend is also known for its breweries, including Deschutes, Crux Fermentation Project, Boneyard, 10 Barrel Brewing, and many more.
A short drive away are all the outdoor activities that Eastern Oregon has to offer, including skiing on Mt Bachelor in the winter, and mountain biking, kayaking, hiking and camping in the summer.
Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
It is important not to leave standing water or wet bath mats on the hardwood floor in the master bathroom or standing water on the wood portion of the kitchen counter.
