Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

My home is in the lovely town of Ashland, Oregon, nestled in a canyon above the University and about 1.5 miles from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival theatres. This home is a small cottage on two levels with beautiful views of the canyon and it's wildlife, and the surrounding 3 acres of Open Space. While here you can relax in the privacy of the yard, hike the trails near by, attend one of the many plays in downtown Ashland or partake of the numerous outdoor recreational opportunities of the Rogue Valley.

THINGS TO DO IN ASHLAND AND CLOSE BY:
*See a play or two or three or as many as you like at the award winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival (whcih has far more than Shakespeare) or one of the many other theaters in the area;
*Enjoy live music at one of the many venues in town, ranging from jazz, blues, rock and roll, folk, country, latin, to country rock, etc.
*Dine in one of the many fine restaurants;
*Stroll through beautiful Lithia Park and downtown Ashland, visiting interesting boutiques, partaking of too much good food and enjoying the vibrant street life;
*Boat or swim at Emigrant, Howard Prairie, Hyatt, Lake of the Woods or another near-by lake;
*Visit Crater Lake National Park (1-1/2 hour drive);
*Hike one of the 100s of trails including the Pacfic Crest Trail in the Siskiyou, Cascade, Kalmiopsis, Marble or other mountain and wilderness areas-some trails can be reached from the front door;
*Listen to music under the stars at the summer Britt Music Festival in Jacksonville, Oregon (30 minutes away);
*Attend the Ashland Independent Film Festival in April;
*Drive to the Pacific Ocean and walk an Oregon or Northern California beach (2-1/2 to 4 hour drive, depending where);
*Participate in a Road Scholar or Osher LifeLong Learning Institute class at the University - 2 blocks away, pre-registration with Road Scholar or OLLI required;
*Thrill yourself with a white water raft trip on the Rogue, Klamath, Salmon or Illinois rivers;
*Enjoy a jet boat ride on the Rogue River in Grants Pass (30 minutes drive);
*Bike the Bear Creek Greenway from Ashland to Central Point,Oregon;
*Mountain bike on the extensive Ashland trail system right from the front door;
*Downhill ski at our local Mt. Ashland Ski Resort (30 minute drive) or Mt. Shasta, California (1-1/2 hour drive);
*Cross country ski on numerous nearby groomed trails;
*Or hang out in the hammock on a summer day and wait for the fawns to come check you out.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

Please treat my home as your own and take good care of it. It will be very clean when you arrive and I appreciate you leaving it the same. Please be courteous to my neighbors and avoid loud noises after 11 p.m. No pets are allowed as there are deer with fawns and other wildlife in the backyard. Children are welcome although my home is very small and there is a seasonal creek, so close supervision will be necessary.
