We are a family of four, who love to travel and explore new places. We love outdoor activities and visiting all types of sights;
cities, beaches, countryside and natural attractions. Before having children we travelled to some amazing places as a couple and we would now like to share some of these places with Asa (2007) and Eva (2009). We feel that staying in a real home helps our children to enjoy travel; feeling immediately 'at home' in their destination! We did our first exchange when Asa was 3 and Eva was just nine months old. We have instilled in them that we are very lucky to stay in other people's homes; please be reassured that they will look after your home, as they do their own!

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our home is a historic village house (dates back to 1840), which has been recently modernised to create a very comfortable family home. The house comprises of four bedrooms - a super king sized master with en-suite, two more king sized bed/rooms and a double. Downstairs we have a newly remodelled, well-equipped kitchen and utility room (range cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer), cloakroom and downstairs shower room, a cosy lounge with log burning fire, a dining room with log burning fire and a playroom / den. We have an extensive, attractive garden (3/4 acre) within which we have a patio area (BBQ), tree house, swings etc.
The house is in a quiet, historic, village which sits in attractive countryside (good for cycling, walking, fishing, golfing).

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We are lucky enough to live in a lovely village, close to the many, popular attractions of the beautiful, historic city of York, the Yorkshire Dales, Yorkshire Coast and all of their many attractions.
We have lovely countryside walks around our home and around Knaresborough, Harrogate, plus lots of historic country houses, Castle Howard, Harewood and Beningborough. Fountain's Abbey is a short drive away. The Bronte Parsonage is also a short drive away. There are many days to be spent exploring the great attractions around here.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
The village that we live in has two traditional country pubs, a post office and shop. It's a short distance from York, with its Minster, (foundations dating from Roman times), medieval walls, Clifford's Tower (originally 1066+), and many attractions exploring its illustrious history, such as the Jorvik Viking Museum, Castle Museum and National Railway Museum, and experiences such as YorkBoats, excellent shopping with national chains, boutiques and a large (McArthur Glen) outlet shopping centre. The beautiful spa town of Harrogate, is a 25minute drIve away and the historic town of Knaresborough (with castle) and riverside walks is 15 minutes away. There are many stately homes such as Harewood House and Castle Howard, and Fountains Abbey a Cistercian Monastery, all a short drive away. The beautiful Yorkshire coast is an hour away, with its gorgeous beaches and famous fish and chips. Finally, the Yorkshire Dales National Park (and many walks) is within an hours drive.
