We are a retired couple who love to travel. We have family in Australia (Melbourne) & tend to visit every year, preferably during our winter. We like to explore different parts of Australia & are open to offers from any area. We are happy to consider exchanges for 2 weeks or maybe more. We have a campervan at home so can accommodate non-simultaneous exchanges by going away in it. We are also keen on exchanges in UK or Europe where we can reach either by driving or flying.

From the start we had great communication with June and Alan and we had a lovely stay at their house. They left a delicious meal for our arrival to their warm and clean house. The local information was very thorough. The local area is very peaceful but also extremely convenient for visiting nearby towns, the Dorset coast, Isle of Purbeck, New Forest and surrounds. We were only staying for 3 nights but we packed in lots and there was much more to do that we couldn't fit in. We would highly recommended it.

We enjoyed our sojourn in in Alan and June’s spacious, comfortable and well maintained home. Their enclosed back garden was a haven to return to. On account of the location, we were able to appreciate the ancient town of Wimborne as well as soak up the atmosphere of Poole waterfront, the beach at Sandbanks as well as catching a ferry to Brownsea Island. Further afield, inland, were the historic delights of Kingston Lacy, Corfe Castle, and the vanity project of the Prince of Wales, Poundbury model village. More seaside delights of Bridport, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Studland made these two landlocked Middle Englanders very happy with plenty of sea air to inhale.

A last minute exchange arranged due to the current situation which we all thoroughly enjoyed. June and Alan's home provides a great base to see lots of attractions within Dorset. We took our bikes and explored bike trails near to the house (you can cycle all the way to Poole), visited the New Forest, beaches, pretty Wimborne Minster with its model town and Moors Valley Country Park where the boys did Go Ape. There was a nearby park which our two boys really enjoyed as well. A great location for a young family, with lots to see and do within easy access. Lots of information provided by June and Alan made this easy to plan as well. Thank you, we really enjoyed our week away.

We had a fantastic swap with Alan and June. Their home is very comfortable and in a great area. Nothing was more than half an hour away. We really enjoyed Moors Valley; the children went on the Go Ape adventure+ course, we hired bikes and also enjoyed the play trail. Corfe castle was a good half day out and as it was half term they had lots of things there to entertain the children. I really liked Wimbourne Minster town which is a Fair Trade town. It has great shops and restaurants. Thank you for leaving our home so clean and tidy and for starting on the washing for us. We recommend swapping with June and Alan

Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Because of the current Coronavirus situation we are not currently planning any trips abroad, either to Australia or to Europe which would be our normal destinations. We are
able to consider swaps in UK until the situation becomes easier and clearer. Happy to consider school holidays & will always reply to offers.
We have 2 double bedrooms, one with king size bed & the other with double bed & en-suite consisting of shower & washbasin. 3rd bedroom has fold out sofa bed which is
the same size as a normal double bed. 4th upstairs room is used as a study. Family bathroom with shower above bath completes upstairs. Downstairs is through lounge/dining
room with large kitchen/diner & cloakroom/toilet, also utility room with washing machine, small freezer & fridge. Enclosed back garden with BBQ & garden furniture - gets sun in summer until late evening. Bournemouth Airport is 20 minutes drive away & Southampton Airport 30 minutes. Brittany Ferries operate direct into Poole - 15 minutes drive - or Portsmouth - 1 hour drive - from St Malo or Cherbourg & also to Portsmouth or Plymouth - 2 hour drive, from Bilbao or Santander. We are very close to the local bus service (2 minutes walk), linking Poole, Bournemouth, Swanage & even Wimborne if you don't want to walk or use the car

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our home is situated less than 2 miles from the attractive market town of Wimborne Minster with the historic Minster, museum, good & varied selection of pubs, restaurants,
shops and an art deco cinema/theatre. We are less than 5 miles from the coast at Poole with its working harbour & access to Brownsea Island. Bournemouth is only 9 miles away with many tourist attractions & lovely beaches. We are perfectly placed for visiting the Isle of Purbeck & Jurassic Coast (a World Heritage Site) with great walking &
swimming opportunities, thatched cottages & steam railway.
The New Forest is 1/2 hour's drive away with lovely, walks, villages, pubs & ponies. There are many National Trust properties within an easy drive & also the cathedrals at Salisbury & Winchester. Weymouth & Lyme Regis are close enough for a day out & this is the Wessex of Thomas Hardy's novels & you can visit many of the locations. Bath & Stonehenge are close too.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

There is one pub/restaurant within easy walking distance & a large choice of cafes, pubs & restaurants in Wimborne Minster, 2 miles away.
Several National Trust properties are within easy driving distance. Bath, Salisbury, Lyme Regis & Weymouth are all easily reached for a day out as is the Isle of Wight. Historical towns such as Wareham, Christchurch, Blandford Forum, Winchester & Dorchester are just a short drive away or you can take a boat trip from Poole Quay to Wareham or Brownsea Island. Arne Nature Reserve, Moors Valley Country Park, Studland & Sandbanks beaches are all within easy reach.
Fossil hunting at Lyme Regis or Charmouth is a popular pastime for any age. The Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth is a good day out.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

The house is smoke free and we do not have pets but we would be happy to look after your pets on an exchange. We have no objections to having children in an exchange & there are many attractions for them in the area but apart from having television & DVD player we don't have anything particularly geared to them. We have lots of local information in the house & can gear it to your particular requirements if you wish. Dorset is a beautiful county & we want you to enjoy your stay here. Although I have said 'No Pets' we would certainly be able to discuss having a well behaved dog to stay so don't let that put you off getting in touch.
