Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

I am primarily interested in visiting capital cities.

Portsmouth is a world famous seaside city, packed with beaches, history, culture and waterside bars and restaurants. Many visitors come to see the Historic Dockyard where you can see the oldest commissioned warship in the world, Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory. There is also a chance to see Henry VIII's flagship the Mary Rose and Queen Victoria's pride and joy HMS Warrior.

A short walk from the Dockyard is the waterfront development of Gunwharf Quays - it's the second most popular shopping outlet centre in the country - and has shops ranging from Ted Baker to LK Bennett to Paul Smith. Many bars and restaurants line the shore with cuisines as diverse as Italian, Chinese, British and Indian meaning you'll never be short of something to eat or drink.

Towering over the development is the Spinnaker Tower - the tallest publicly accessible building in the UK - this graceful structure offers views far across the harbour to the Isle of Wight as well as across much of Hampshire.

5 minutes from Gunwharf is the historical area of Old Portsmouth - one of the first cities in the UK - countless sailors and historical figures have walked the cobbles around the Camber Dock and the High Street.

From here you can walk to Southsea - a traditional Victorian seaside resort - with a promenade, beach - all backing onto the Common - a gift from the monarchy, an ever stretching green space right in the City centre.

Away from Portsmouth the beaches of the Isle of Wight, Wittering are in easy reach as are the traditional English market towns of Winchester and Petersfield.

If that's not enough London is only 1 hour and ten minutes away by train - with many services an hour from Portsmouth's two train stations.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

My neighbourhood is quiet but friendly with easy access (bus outside the house ) to Portsmouth City Center ,Gunwarf Quays and Portsmouth Dockyard. Can also get this bus to the train station to get to Southampton , Bournemouth and Brighton.London is accessible by coach but quicker to get a 10 min taxi to the train station . Then it is an hour and twenty minutes on the fast train. There are also some lovely country walks and coastal walks fairly nearby.
