Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Our home has the best of both worlds - right on the edge of Hampstead Heath, overlooking trees, open-air swimming pool and open spaces, yet with excellent transport connections: easy access from St Pancras International, and only 20 minutes by bus or tube from Oxford Circus and the West End, with its theatres, shops, all the attractions of the capital. The overground rail service at Gospel Oak ( 2 minutes' walk) takes you west to Kew Gardens and Richmond Park in about 30 minutes, and east to Stratford International and the Olympic Park in roughly the same time. The flat is spacious, and full of natural light. It is our one and only home!
We prefer simultaneous exchanges with a single person or a couple if possible. We welcome offers of short breaks to interesting and beautiful places in mainland Europe; we are committed Europhiles. Now specifically seeking a longer-term exchange in Paris or environs, perhaps for 6 months during 2020.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our neighbourhood has an interesting history - has been home to many artists, musicians, writers and socialists. The estate of 5-storey mansion blocks was completed in 1906 on the site of a former farm, on a continental European pattern which is rare in London. It has a community feel if you want to be part of it, but equally you can be very private if that's what you prefer. It's a wonderful place to live if you enjoy culture but also like open spaces; Hampstead Heath is our back garden, with acres of trees and open green spaces, and famous outdoor swimming facilities. There are plenty of shops within walking distance, and a farmers' market 500 metres away on a Saturday. There is a good selection of wildlife, from woodpeckers, kingfishers and parakeets to foxes and squirrels...
