We live in a quiet, residential area of the city with all public amenities, shops, restaurants, pubs within easy range in Stockbridge - a 5-10 minute walk. Stockbridge has been voted best place in Scotland to live in a recent poll (April 2016). A great deal of Scotland is within a day's driving range and the city is vibrant with many eateries, theatres, cinemas and pubs to spend the days/evenings.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We live in a quiet area though only a short walk to Stockbridge which is a vibrant part of Edinburgh. Restaurants, bars, take away food outlets and a Sunday market are some of the features. The Royal Botanical Gardens are also within easy walking distance. The city centre is about 30-40 minutes walk and there are frequent bus services if you prefer.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
As well as the local area, Edinburgh is a fantastic, historical city with hundreds of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from. There are theatres, cinemas and galleries also in large numbers.
If you wish to travel further, Much of Scotland is easily accessible for day trips - Loch Lomond, Perthshire, Glasgow, Loch Ness - and almost the whole country can be accessed if you wish to stay over a day or two. The Highlands and Islands are especially wonderful parts of the world.
