We are Graham and Sue, and we are both retired. Graham worked in a national charity, and Sue was in further education. Since we retired we have spent a lot of time travelling - but we took time out a couple of years ago to sell the house we'd spent over twenty years in, and move to this house in the middle of the city. We should have done it years ago! We hope you like our home and our city as much as we do. We're genuinely open to any offers - anything from a few days in the UK to a couple of weeks anywhere in Europe, or a longer swap anywhere in the world. We have grown up children who live in and around Chester, but the exchange party would just be us. We have a dog (who has crept into some of our photos) but he isn't part of the swap and won't be travelling with us. We only mention this in case any of you are allergic to dogs. We have a smoke free home. We will ALWAYS reply to every message - we know how frustrating it is when you don't get a response.

The location of the exchange home, just a 2 minute walk from the city centre but in a quiet street, is just perfect for exploring the city, walking the walls, eating out and generally taking in both the ambiance and the immense history of Chester. What a lovely city it is. The house was ideal; comfortable and welcoming and no effort was spared to make us feel welcome. Thank you Graham and Sue for providing such an excellent home exchange!

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We are offering our comfortable townhouse within the city walls of the historic city of Chester. The house is in a quiet backwater, but is less than three minutes walk from the centre of the city. We have a small private patio, and there is private off street parking. If you wish to explore the area around, we are very close to public transport links to Manchester, Liverpool, and beyond. We have enjoyed thirty + successful exchanges all over the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world. Although the house has four bedrooms, two of them are used as as study and a craft room. We therefore only have two bedrooms available - both with double beds.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our home is part of a small development built in the late 80s. We have not lived here long, but we have already made friends with our neighbours. We all have one thing in common - we love living here! Although we are right in the middle of a vibrant and world famous city, everybody comments on the quiet and the privacy. There is no through traffic down our road, and any noise from the City is completely masked by the large Georgian buildings across the road from us. Everything we need is on our doorstep.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
The famous Rows in Chester offer a wide range of shopping, together with wine bars, cafes, restaurants and public houses, while the River Dee (five minutes walk from the house) provides a range of attractions - boat trips, boat hire, and pleasant walks along the banks. Three minutes in the other direction is the Shropshire Union Canal, with some historic buildings constructed by Thomas Telford being of particular interest. We are one minutes walk from Chester Racecourse (The Roodee) which is the world's oldest racecourse in continuous use. In the Summer, there is an open air theatre in the city, and we now have Storyhouse, a new and award winning theatre, cinema, and cultural centre.
If you want to venture further, the major cities of Manchester and Livedrpool are both within an hour, and London is two and a half hours by train. There are three national parks within a ninety minute drive of Chester.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We don't have 'house rules'. We will take good care of your house, and leave it immaculate when we depart. We expect the same from our guests - because that's one of the fundamental principles of home exchange.
