We chose the location because it was near to our family but it is only an hour on the tube into central London. There are also some lovely old towns close by such as Chesham, Amersham, Berkhamsted and Beaconsfield. You are well placed for the Cotswolds and Oxford. The home was spacious with all mod cons and the use of their car was great. Would recommend the house and location.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our house is on the outskirts of Chesham, a market town 35 miles from central London. It is sited at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, next to open country and overlooking a golf course. Chesham Station is at the end of the Metropolitan Line for access to all of London's atractions and Wembley Stadium. The town is surrounded by the Chiltern Hills. Historic Oxford is about an hour's drive away. Windsor Castle, the River Thames, Cliveden House and Waddesden Manor are even closer. London Heathrow Airport can be reached in 40 minutes. The house itself has: modern open kitchen leading to dining room and conservatory; large lounge; modern family bathroom, one double bedroom (*) and one single bedroom downstairs; two double bedrooms and shower-room upstairs. (* the double-bedroom downstairs is set up as the 'guest bedroom'. So you have your bedroom and bathroom on the same floor as the living space.) Outside is a south-facing garden with a patio / terrace. There is parking for three cars. Shops, restaurants etc are in Chesham, approx 2 km from the house.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our house is in a quiet neigbourhood of little architectural merit (!) but the people are decent (!!). We like it because there are many local footpaths through the fields for countryside walks. Chesham has a large park with swings'n'slides for children, they have concerts there sometimes on Sundays in the summer. There is also a theatre - The Elgiva - where plays and concerts are performed and they show films there as well. The house backs on to Chartridge Park Golf Club where guests are welcome. There is a pub, The Bell, in Chartridge Village which is about 1 km from the house - maybe 15 minutes walk. They do good meals there and a good choice of beers. We've ticked "car necessary" as having a car would make your holiday a lot easier - there is public transport from Chesham but walking up and down from there would drag after the first few times.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
Children are welcome but you need to know that we do have ornaments at toddler-height - as our grandchildren have discovered, to their delight but not necessarily ours. There is one 'guest bedroom which will be clear for you. Children or extra adults may have to put up with our stuff as well as yours in the other bedrooms. Your pet is welcome - same rules as at your house! No smoking in the house, please. We have quite a number of house-plants, we may ask you to water one or two of them, depending on the weather and the time of year.
