We are Janet and Peter, retired education professionals, who are looking forward to exploring more of the world by exchanging our homes in Dorset, England and Lake Maggiore,Italy. We are experienced exchangers who have thoroughly enjoyed both the opportunity to live as a local in another country, but also to share the beautiful places we know.
We love both cities and countryside, and are keen walkers. We are vegetarians, love our food, and are always on the lookout for interesting places to eat!

To us this is very important, as we usually always stay in bigger cities, even New York, where we have close family. So cosy to sit with the cat in the sofa, planning the car trip of the day. No problems driving left traffic. Just take it slowly. A nice and spacious house!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our village is quiet and friendly, only 5 minutes drive from the historic market town of Shaftesbury, Dorset, home of the famous Gold Hill. Shaftesbury has a range of shops, cafes and restaurants and has an Arts Centre. We are in the countryside and have beautiful views from the house over to Zig Zag hill and Spreadeagle hill.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Our house is a 5 minute drive from the centre of Shaftesbury, a small town in Dorset with a recorded history that goes back to the Saxon hilltop forts. The town is the home of the famous Gold Hill and has magnificent views over the Blackmore Vale. There are supermarkets, pubs, cafes and restaurants in town, and a weekly small market. There are great walks in the area, and we will leave details of good walks and pubs in the local countryside.
We are within a half hour drive of Stourhead Gardens, Stonehenge, Longleat and the cathedral city of Salisbury in addition to many other stately homes or public gardens. Within an hour's drive you can visit the ancient Roman city of Bath or the beautiful Jurassic coast. The mainline railway station to London Waterloo (about 2 hrs) is a 10 minute drive awaY.
