Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

We live in a 5 bedroom terraced house with an open plan kitchen/living area. The house is split over three floors with a bathroom on each floor (one bath and one shower). There are four large bedrooms and one small one, which together can sleep 7. There is a garden with a decking area where you can sit outside when its sunny. The shed is not available to use during house swaps.
We have two gorgeous kittens (Billie and Lester) so that's something to be aware of if you are allergic to cats.
We live in a very comfortable and friendly area - in fact all your shopping could be done on our high-street which won High Street of the Year of London a few years ago, because of the range of independent quality shops available (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitshanger).

At the bottom of our street is a huge park with a river, tennis courts, basketball court, lawn bowls, children's playing area and café.

Access to public transport is fantastic - two buses come every 5 minutes and take you to Ealing Broadway in 5 mins. As it is the start of Central and District lines, it can get into Central London in 30 minutes, or even less using the Elizabeth Line. Trains in the opposite direction can take you to locations such as Maidenhead and Reading etc.!
We are a very musical family - we have a Rockola jukebox playing original 45 records, guitars and a couple of keyboards. You are welcome to use our computer and free Wi-Fi. We also have all the normal facilities e.g. TV, DVD player, washing machine, dishwasher etc.
Our garden has a large wooden deck area.
And if you ever get tired of the free museums, the amazing theatre and all the sights of Central London and want an evening in, there are plenty of DVDs, books and board games.
We no longer use a car as transport is so good from Ealing that we don't need one!

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our home has a village atmosphere whilst being within London and if you ever have any problems or queries while staying in our home, our neighbours would be more than happy to help out.
Our road is off a lane (which won London high street of the year in 2017) with cafes, restaurants, grocery shops, a bakery, library, post office and more. The local Tesco supermarket is just a 10 min drive although the Co-Op at the top of our road is perfect for day-to-day needs.

We live a short walk from Pitshanger Park with its golf course, children's playground and tennis courts. Lots of other activities are on offer nearby such as Horse Riding in Gunnersbury Avenue.

Getting into Central London is very easy with Ealing Broadway tube station only 5-10 mins bus ride away. From there you can take a train into Paddington or the tube anywhere in London.

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Shopping in London is not a problem. Just 5 mins away from our house is Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre with nearly 100 high street shops. Just 20 mins away in Shepherd's Bush is Westfield London Shopping Centre, one of the largest in Europe. In central London, it's worth checking out the street fashion available in Camden, Shoreditch and Portobello Road (Notting Hill) as well as the high street shops on Oxford St.

London is rife with theatres, gig venues, free museums, sports venues, galleries, clubs and other world famous and historic attractions. It's also worth exploring the food across the city such as curries in Brick Lane or Southall and Chinese food in Soho.

A short drive from London are many attractions such as theme parks and historic towns. Kids (and adults too) will enjoy Legoland, 'The Making of Harry Potter' experience and Thorpe Park theme park. The nearby university towns of Oxford and Cambridge have beautiful buildings and plenty of history, as do Windsor and Bath.
