We had a fantastic visit to Sue and Pete’s lovely house in Hartford, very Christmassy feel. It was the perfect spot for us with buses and trains to Chester, Manchester, and Liverpool all within walking distance. The car exchange gave us a chance to visit Bruce’s Dad and sister for wonderful family catch ups. Sue and Pete’s place had everything we needed, and more, as Bruce is a chef and loves getting stuck in to cooking in the kitchen, even when we are on exchanges. Hartford village was great and very welcoming, and brilliant to have a local pub close by at the end of the road, where we enjoyed a couple of meals and a few pints. We LOVED Hollies Farm Shop with its gourmet foods and wonderful Christmas shop. We kept in touch with Sue and Pete leading up to and then throughout the exchange and swapped some great photos of them enjoying the beach and us all rugged up enjoying Cheshire. We felt very much at home in their lovely house, and we would love to visit again sometime during their summer.

Sue and Pete are experienced Homelinkers and excellent communicators. They went out of their way to make our stay very special, including leaving us food for at least three days. The house is very comfortable and it proved an ideal location for traveling west to North Wales or east to the Peak District, choosing our hikes according to the weather. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood with plenty of supermarkets and shops within a short drive. Chester was fun to explore--we used the Park and Ride system, but there is also a bus or a train to get there.

A wonderful exchange at Sue and Pete's home. Pete was there to greet us from the station and take us home and orientate us to all the amenities. Modern, warm with all the comforts. The fridge was full of wonderful food which kept us going for days, brilliant. The local pub just around the corner which Sue and Pete took us out for dinner and the station on leaving. Fabulous area for exploring. Highly recommend this exchange.

Charming home in desirable neighborhood. Convenient to a host of quaint towns, and pubs. Five minute walk to the train station. The Roman city of Chester and the city of Manchester are an easy drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this home. A taxi service picked us up and delivered us back to the airport. We have participated in approximately 20 exchanges over the years. This exchange was very successful and we would certainly do it again should we get the chance.

Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Our home is a comfortable two/three bedroomed detached house (extra bed settee in study) situated around a pleasant green in a peaceful cul-de-sac. It is a very quiet neighbourhood yet within walking distance to our village shops, pubs, bistros and two railway stations. There is a bus stop at the end of the road that will take you to the Roman City of Chester (25minutes away). Our neighbours are extremely friendly and used to welcoming our home exchange visitors.
We have a Mazda CX3 Mini Hybrid available for you during your stay if you would appreciate a car exchange.
The house is 30 minutes from both Manchester Airport and Liverpool Airport. We arrange free transfers to and from either airport to our house, for our visitors, so there is no stress on arrival!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Hartford is a picturesque Cheshire village in central England. It has a church at its centre (Church of England). There are local shops for your everyday needs; butcher, florist, chemist, newsagent, pharmacy, barber, hairdresser and two small supermarkets. The village has many activities such as a tennis club, cricket club, bridge and the village hall offers lots of other groups such as Zumba and holiday clubs for children. We are also surrounded by golf clubs; Vale Royal Abbey GC, Sandiway GC, Hartford GC & many of our visitors bring their clubs to enjoy our lovely golf courses. The town of Northwich is close by which has bigger stores such as Tesco, Sainsburys, Boots and WH Smith.There are two mainline railway stations within walking distance from our house; Hartford which is the Liverpool/London line (London 1hr 45m, Liverpool 25m) is at the end of the road and Greenbank (1 mile away) which is the Chester/Manchester line. There are a network of canals and forest walks (Delamere Forest) in the area and the Roman city of Chester is close by which offers shopping, walking the historic walls and river cruises. Cheshire has many stately homes such as Tatton Hall/Park and Arley Hall.
We also have so many fantastic pubs locally that offer a great selection of beers and wines and food that you will be spoilt for choice.

Cheshire is well known as a beautiful English county with many stately homes and the wonderful Roman city of Chester. It is also well situated for visitors wanting to travel to Wales and the Lake District due to excellent motorway systems. Liverpool Airport is 2 stops from Hartford Station where there are numerous cheap flights (Ryanair/Easyjet) to Ireland. Cheshire has many historic stately homes such as Tatton Hall, Arley Hall etc. We also have extensive forests with a network of forest walks. If you enjoy shopping, we have The Trafford Centre and Cheshire Oaks. Canals wind their way through our county which offer daily boat trips including visiting the world famous Anderton Boat Lift.
