Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Friendly English rural village, with country pub and church, dating back to 12th century, and very proud of historical links to the Pilgrim fathers. Although there are no shops in Scrooby we have a milkman who delivers milk and other food items 3 times a week, local sourdough and egg delivery on Friday pm. Close to the lovely small town of Bawtry, (one mile) where there are restaurants, pubs with food, and all shopping opportunities. For more information on Scrooby please visit Scrooby.net

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
One mile from the village is the buzzing small town of Bawtry which features many shops, pubs and restaurants and a small community theatre, library and dance studio. Retford Town has rail links to London, 1.5 hours by train and Edinburgh 3 hours. We are 45 minutes by car to the world famous Peak District and many historical grand houses, such as Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and Haddon Hall. The National Trust Clumber Park and Sherwood forest, home of the legend, Robin Hood, is 20 minutes away with many cycle trails, electric bicycles are available at our home (2). The area is full of history, Medieval cities, Lincoln and York with their magnificent ancient cathedrals are only 45 minutes away. In the year 2020 the area will be welcoming visitors to help celebrate 400 year anniversary of the Pilgrim Fathers arrival in America and many events are planned. In essence the ideal location to explore England from this central position, nowhere is far away. The Airport of Doncaster/Sheffield has twice daily flights from Amsterdam Schippol Airport, so it is possible to fly from anywhere in the world and arrive near to our home, the airport is 5 miles away. We have an Audi A3 which is available to use together with cycle rack for transporting our cycles to cycle trails.
