Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

1912 Edwardian with original woodwork and remodelled kitchen and bathrooms (2-1/2). Two bedrooms have double beds; one has a queen bed. There is also a firm queen sofa-bed in the sitting room (details provided if you need to accommodate up to eight people -- we are always happy if you want to invite friends or relatives to stay with you and enjoy our house and city). Piano, wood-burning stove in fireplace, fibre-optic internet, satellite tv. We have a large back garden, but with current drought conditions it is not very verdant; we do ask all visitors to use water carefully. No garage or private parking, but we have two bicycles in the passageway. We have had over 25 exchanges with Homelink and other clubs.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

The Richmond District is a relatively quiet neighborhood north of Golden Gate Park. Our home is located south of Sea Cliff, east of Lincoln Park (Palace of the Legion of Honor), and north of California, Clement, and Geary, all major "high streets" with shopping, banks, bus lines to downtown, and more restaurants of every ethnicity than one could eat at in a year. There are lovely walks from Baker Beach through Sea Cliff and along the bay all the way to Lands End and the Cliff House, with spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands. We are just off of California Route 1, easy access to the Golden Gate Bridge (Muir Woods, Napa/Sonoma wine valleys, north coast) and south to Silicon Valley, Monterey/Carmel/Big Sur, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

We have our long-distance (U.K., Europe) exchanges planned through winter 2018/19, but would consider short-term in Chicago or West Coast. We often come back to London and would seriously consider an annual swap. No smoking, no pets please. Children welcome. We have no pets but have had cats (but not for nine years, so we should be safe for those with allergies) and will be very happy to care for yours. If it is not raining, some outdoor plants need watering (about 2 minutes twice a week).
We can do long-term exchanges up to three months. We are happy to receive offers from places we have not listed and ALWAYS answer requests. We prefer to travel in spring or fall and are unlikely to accept offers beyond the West Coast for July/August.
