Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

The Richmond District is a relatively quiet neighborhood between The Bay and Golden Gate Park. Our home is just north of California St., Clement St., and Geary Blvd., all major east-west "high streets" with shopping, banks, bus lines to all parts of the city, and more restaurants of every ethnicity than one could eat at in a year. South of these streets lies Golden Gate Park, one of the great urban parks of the world. From our house one can walk through Sea Cliff to China and Baker Beaches, Lincoln Park (Legion of Honor art museum, golf course -- put "Lincoln Park 17th hole" in google images), and along the bay to Lands End and the Cliff House (re-opening soon), with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands. We are just off California Route 1, easy access to the Golden Gate Bridge (Muir Woods, Napa/Sonoma wine valleys, north coast) and south to Silicon Valley, Monterey/Carmel/Big Sur.
